Time for Yourself
Do you set aside time for yourself?
It seems that we’re constantly in a state of rush, a result of a progressed state of our natural pace. In order to try finishing things more than the previous, we have become a multi-tasking animal in a human form. As a result, we have forgotten how to set specific time for something important to us, like relaxing, playing, and simply enjoying ourselves.
In order to be healthy in mind and spirit, we need to set time for ourselves.
Learn these steps to set aside specific time for anything that’s important to you:
1. Figure out how much time: To set aside a specific time for yourself, it’s important to know how much time you’ll invest on it. For example, if you have always wanted to get fit and healthy, you might want to hit the gym 3 times a week, with no exceptions. For each day, you might want to run on treadmill for 20 minutes or 2 miles, no matter what.
2. Make appointment with yourself: If you have a baby, find a baby-sitter. Set a time in a calendar so that you know the day and time of the week you are performing that task.
3. Nourish your mind: You need to relax, slow down, and let go. For that, give your mind and soul nourishment by filling it with creative visions, relaxing music, and pleasant thoughts. Or, other important things to set aside time for yourself could be as simple as walking in the woods, breathing fresh air, and enjoying a sunset, etc.
When you set aside time for nourishing your mind, you’ll leave your problems behind for a while. Yes, they’ll be still there when you come back, but you’ll be in a good position to handle them, probably in a relaxed state.
4. Nourish your body: Like mind and soul, your body needs to renew and rejuvenate. Once a week, get a massage to relax your muscle. Similarly, eat nutritious meal. Or, take a bubble bath with a soft relaxing music going in the background. Lie back, and let your mind wander.
5. Get away from the usual: Always set aside time for things that you have always wanted to do. Getting away from the usual always does you a world of good. For example, watch a play, or visit a nearby museum or a library and read an old book off the shelf. Go to art exhibitions, or visit a park in the late afternoon.
6. Surround Yourself with Others: You can also set aside time for yourself to be around with others. For example, instead of having a coffee alone at home, visit a nearby café shop and have a lunch while listening to the hum of conversation around. Make sure the environment is calm and less noisy.
