Success Rule #10, Set clear and concise goals
“People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.”
-Earl Nightingale
“The establishment of a clear, central purpose or goal in life is the starting point of all success. An average person with average talent, ambition and education, can outstrip the most brilliant genius in our society, if that person has clear, focused goals.”
-Brian Tracy
“Take up one idea and act on it. Make that one idea your life. Think of it, dream of it, and live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, and every part of your body be full of that idea and leave all other ideas alone. This is the way to success.”
-Unknown
“Put your goals in writing. If you can’t put it on a sheet of paper, you probably can’t do what it takes to achieve the goal.”
-Unknown
The above quotes say it all really, but I put in my 2 cents worth. This post closely follows my previous post, success rule #9, “knowing your why.” Once you have established your “why” you need to go about setting your goals.
You could think of goal setting as the wind in you sails that will provide the momentum needed to push your business along the road to success. When I first joined SFI, I was asked to submit my goals in writing on a special form management had created. I’ve got to tell you, something happened in my psyche after I had filled out that form.
Suddenly I found that I had this profound sense of “drive” to get the job done. After all I had goals to achieve now. So have I achieved all my goals? No, but here’s the thing. That internal drive that was created from writing down and submitting those goals has never left me. In fact they have been a driving force in every online venture that I’ve undertaken since.
Now you may have to revise those goals from time to time because you may have exceeded them or come far short of them. Either way, revision of your goals should be viewed as a positive step toward achieving them.
Okay, here’s a quick assignment for you. Go right now and brainstorm your goals, when you have them write them down on a piece of paper or print them out and then put them somewhere you can see them everyday. Doing this will create a new sense of drive, within you, to get the job done.
So then, success rule #10 for network marketers is, set clear and concise goals.
