Chuck Murphy

The film left two things out, he says, and then names them. Chuck Murphy watched a well known documentary about attraction every few months and eventually wrote down what he thought was missing: the power of what you say out loud, and a phrase about being that he takes seriously.

His observation underneath it is worth more than the theory. Intelligent people, he notices, tend to pause for a second or two before answering a question, because they know that whatever they say next is going to sit in the room.

The other post on the blog belongs to somebody else. It is a well known marketer's set of ten exercises for building the skills nobody starts with, credited openly, and it includes the genuinely odd instruction to have a colleague listen in while you work random words into a sales call.

Two posts. Read the spoken word one for his own thinking, and the exercises one because the exercises are strange enough to remember.
