Go Through The Motions
Sometimes we need to go through the motions long enough to get the feel for what we need to be doing and how we need to do it.Just like downhill skiing. Are you going to be a pro downhill skier in one day?NO WAY DUDE! Can you get good enough to get down the slope on your first day without falling down?I don’t know,Can you? Maybe, maybe not.Is it that important to you?If it is,and you have a fair amount of physical ability, then it is possible.
Maybe you are a good cross-country skier, and you aren’t good at downhill skiing.Maybe you can snowboard better.Do you know this on your first day?Probably not.You need to give each one an honest try.Maybe you are good at all three sports.Which one do you like best?Maybe you like all three. That’s GREAT! Do all three sports if you want to.The point is this:each sport is going to get you to the destination. You will have different results and experiences that are unique to that sport, while some things will parallel through all three sports.
Compare
Now,lets, take that scenario and compare it to blogging and internet marketing. Are you good at blogging,or are you better at making videos?Let’s say you like direct mail marketing.Perfect.It can be effective. Now look at the results.Does it get good results?Maybe you get better results from video marketing, but you absolutely hate making videos.Which one do you choose? That’s up to you.It all depends on why you are here.Myself,I am here to grow my business as effectively as possible.Maybe I will have to do something that I don’t like as much as other things.I will have to try different things and compare the results.
Personal Experience
I do not have any personal experience in the internet marketing industry,or blogging.I still need to learn how to market effectively. And I am learning.I am limited to free marketing at the moment, but I am making the best of the situation as possible,at least as far as I know.I am still trying to get the feel of this stuff.I have made some improvements in the last two weeks.I am gaining personal experience every day.
Learn From People Who Are Better Than Me
I have always made it a point in my life to learn from people who are better than me,whether it be work, sports, whatever I wanted to be good at.I always learned from people who were better then me.I learn from their mistakes,as well as my own. After I have been doing this long enough to start getting the feel for it,I will be able to come up with my own way of doing things, and be able to achieve my goals.Sometimes the best way to learn something new is to just do it.So that’s what I am doing.I don’t care how stupid I look.Or how many people snicker at me.That is all part of the growth necessary.
I was listening to David Wood before starting this post.He was talking about a butterfly, and comparing it to someone new in the industry. What he said was something like,if you help a butterfly get out of it’s cocoon,it will never be able to fly.The reason is,because the butterfly needs to struggle to break through the cocoon in order to build enough strength to be able to fly. That is where I am at now;cocoon stage. And I am struggling.I have had a couple of breakthroughs so far,but I am still in the cocoon.I am going to go through the motions, and soon,I will know why.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak;courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen—Winston Churchill
