Marriage

Marriage-One of the biggest commitments we as humans make in our lives. In the ceremony that we go through when we get married we tell each other that we will stay with each other no matter what happens in our life times “For Better or Worse”. We tell each other that we will stay with them for the rest of our lives! It’s easy to say O.K. yes , we all said this-no big deal. But , Think about this for a minute ,this Marriage is really a very big , serious commitment. A commitment to another person -No Matter What Happens in Their Lives-Forever!!!!! WOW-That’s a HUGE Promise made in Love.

How many of us really put a lot of thought in to this commitment/promise , before we said it? How many of us put much thought in to the ramifications of what we said ,in getting married and who all it would affect, over our lives? Most people get married with the intention of having children of their own and building a family. When we first get married we immediately become part of a new family by now having in-laws. As our children grow up we develope friends through their friends and family. Many people become a big family through the decision and promise we made when we got married. The seriousness of that one commitment that we made, on one day in our lives is very far reaching and touches many people for a very long time.

So with that being the case , a Marriage should be taken very seriously. I don’t know of any other one thing that is more important in our lives as a marriage. It then has to be something that is taken very seriously and taken care of in such a way that it reflects it’s importance. It should be nurtured and taken care of like it is one of THE Most Important Things in Our Lives. There are many things in our lives that we put a lot of effort and energy and time in to-like our house , job ,car , friends ,pets , vacations , kids activities and on and on the list goes. But are any of these more important than our Marriage??? It seems to me that most all of these go away if our marriage goes away. As a matter of fact I know that most of these go away when our marriage goes away. So it seems to me that we should make it a priority to do whatever it takes to make sure that our marriage is good for both people , that we do for each other what they need to feel fulfilled and respected and taken care of in they way that they need to be taken care of , so that our marriage stays strong , loving ,vibrant so that it does last FOREVER !!! That we do, on a regular basis for each other-like when we first got married-the things that made us fall in love to begin with.

There is nothing more beautiful , fulfilling and more wonderful than a married couple in love. A couple loving , living , striving , accomplishing is one of the perfect unions in life. It is worth giving it all we’ve got to make it the best that we can and the most fulfilling that we can and to make it last all our ENTIRE LIFE-”Till Death Do us Part”-as we said to each other when we first made that PROMISE and COMMITMENT.

I experienced the devastation , downfall ,destruction , children and family….. of another broken marriage this week end in my family. And nothing is sadder than this! Especially when it is something that can be avoided with commitment , work and effort. Especially if we really take seriously the promise that we make when we first get married. If we put in to our marriage the time effort and energy of something that is more important than anything else in our lives we will have the successful marriage that we said we would have- FOREVER!
