5 Tips For Creating Content That Sticks
If you’re generating content as part of your web marketing efforts, then your greatest goal needs to be creating “content that sticks.” What exactly IS content that sticks? In a nut-shell, sticky content is the form of content that is so OUTSTANDING that it brings along subscribers back again and again. It “sticks” in their minds and they remember it right when they may need it ~ hence, Content That Sticks!
Content that sticks is memorable
You can see how many unique visitors you have versus the number of page views if you have access to analytics. Doing this is a good clue of how attractive your content is. If you obtain more page views than unique visitors then you presumably have articles or blogs that are producing return readers – and that is great!
So, what exactly does it take to create content that sticks? It is a combination of quality content, timeliness and consistent publishing.
How To Create Content That Sticks
Think Like Your Viewers
It is easy to write over and over again about why your product is so wonderful or why your service is the best. But that’s not what your readers are looking for when they do a Google search. They are searching for content that sticks. They are trying to solve a problem. You should be trying to solve their problems. When you start digging in and answering customer questions, you will put together content that sticks.
To create content that sticks, you got to Be Unpredictable!
Nobody puts on the same pair of clothes each day! Most people love the element of surprise. As authors, it is easy to fall into a rut – pumping out the same “variety” of content day by day. So, break that cycle and mix it up – create content that sticks. Visitors love discovering something new, seeing a different side of you. If you normally do informational articles, then it might just mean conducting an interview instead.

Keep It Real, Don’t Hide How You Feel
People respond to your true feelings. Some of my most popular content that sticks have a personal element to them. When I share my feelings, visitors respond – and that is completely natural. People are hardwired to listen to their hearts. People are going to connect when we share stories about ourselves, or about others; they add that personal element.
If you are building any business, don’t be afraid to share where you have come from. The reality of your story can bring in the right people. People will find it inspiring and REAL. Share how you feel even on bad days… that’s reality. Be sure that YOU are a part of your blog. Can your face be found on your blog? Do you have any social networks that you are connected with? Can visitors quickly navigate to your bio? These simple design elements go a long way towards building lasting relationships.
Be Actively, Interactive
Getting people to participate somehow on your blog is a great way to get them to come back! Ask for their advice, encourage comments, hold a competition, have people vote on something, host a giveaway, encourage subscribers to opt in, etc. These styles of interactions encourage visitors to come back to comment again or view the results.
Just make sure that you are commenting back when subscribers are commenting on your articles or posts. Look at each comment as a chance to connect. You never know where that relationship may lead!
Consistently Post Content That Sticks
I’m sure you’ve heard this time and time again… when it comes to maintaining readership and creating content that sticks, consistency is key. Nothing is more damaging than uncovering a great new blog only to find the publisher has not really up-dated it in months. Believe me when I say that as soon as readers have found you and made the decision that they like you, they will want a lot more content from you!
