Most businesses want to gain leads and drive more traffic to their website. To accomplish this it is incredibly important to make Search Engine Optimization (SEO) a part of your growth strategy. As well as part of your budget, not doing so will give your competition an advantage that might be difficult, costly or impossible to overcome.
Search Engine Optimization is critical to your growth
This is because in order for your website to have any sort of online impact you have to rank high on the Search Engines. Such as Google, Bing and Yahoo! With Google being the largest player by far. The first thing is to be sure that Google can find your site and that you have great content.
One Key to Successful Search Engine Optimization
You have to have unique, relevant, authoritative content that says who you are and what you sell. This content must be written in a compelling manner that promotes your customer to Take Action. The content must match up with the customers expectations. Meaning if you are found by a prospective customer, the search they preformed or the ad they responded to, must find your website content relevant to their search or your ads promise.
Another important way to be found on a Google search is to add new content regularly, daily if possible. The search engines look for and reward new content as long as it is valuable and relates to the rest of your site.
One of the best ways to accomplish this is by using a Blog. Blogs are designed to be easily updated and are a great way to inform your customer or clients of company news, sales, events or to communicate useful information relating to your business or industry.
Not only is this a good way to increase search engine rankings but creates value and good will toward you from your customers. Therefore encouraging your prospects and customers to be loyal. Loyal customers tend to be more likely to refer others, which in turn increases sales today and in the future.
Search Engine Optimization and Social Media
Recently the search engines incorporated Social Media updates into their algorithms. These can include Facebook, Twitter and other social media updates and post. Facebook updates and Tweets may even show up in the search results if they appear newsworthy.
This was done because today this is the way a large portion of the population communicates. Therefore it is a major indicator of what is relevant as it relates to search results.
Of course this means that engaging in these types of mediums is also critical to attaining high search engine rankings. Search Engine Optimization companies are aware of and most are including packages that include Social Media management.
Links from other websites and Search Engine Optimization
A large factor in Google search rankings comes from links back to your site from other sites (backlinks). Search Engines count the number of and the quality of (authority) online links pointing back to your site, specifically to the pages on your site. (pages are ranked). These and other factors are weighted to give a searcher the results that Google feels best matches the search given.
When producing content with links back to your site keep in mind that the search term you use to link with, must be a term you want to rank for. Example, if your want to be ranked for a service or product you offer make sure to use words that relate to the item, say “Running Shoes” not “Click Here”!
Video and Search Engine Optimization
Search Engines love video, especially Google (they own Youtube). Use video on your site if possible. As seen by the popularity of Youtube, people also love video. Try using key members of your business team to communicate via video to your prospects and customers. Make sure you tag it correctly and you will see that Google will reward you for including video in your content.
