The Dream Refund: Sold a Dream Untrue

It’s not our fault if we were sold a dream that just never has a chance of coming true.

We shouldn’t blame anyone for not being able to live the life we want to live.

So who sold a dream that will never come true?

I don’t know…

For everyone it’s different.  For myself, I was encouraged to pursue that dream by my mother and father.  I was encouraged to go out there, go to college, get a job, and retire somewhere when I’m 75.

However, I’m SO MUCH different than that.

I wanted to be rich.

I didn’t know how…

But I knew it was possible.

The problem with that is that I had NO close reference point of rich.  My grandfather owned real estate in Brooklyn, NY and made GREAT money, but I really didn’t think his lifestyle was what I wanted.  He worked too much.

And in my opinion, that’s not rich.  Not by any stretch.

So instead, I BOUGHT the dream that college was a necessary start.  I had to start there in order to get to where I wanted to go.

I’ve been to three colleges/universities thinking that the only way to get from point A to point B was through this avenue.  And boy was I wrong.

Instead of making thousands of dollars a month getting rich, I’m in debt thousands of dollars because of student loans.  Are you in the same position too?

I was then sold a dream that working my way up the ladder was the way to go.  I came out of Springfield College as a strength coach.  I was looking to train athletes, but I had gotten to the point when I was a bit burnt out.  I had worked so hard in school to get myself into the position to get a great job, but it never came to be.

I kicked and screamed and wondered WHY do some people get the best jobs and others don’t even though I work harder.  I later understood it was a political war that I didn’t know ANYTHING about.

Even a cook, Le Cordon Bleu sold a dream that we would get out of school and become high-paying cooks.  School was great, the people around the restaurant were nice, but the pay was close to nothing.  Passion didn’t get me through that grind.

Sold a dream AGAIN!

So here I am…

I still want my dream.

When I came into the Empower Network, I saw something that was in line with my dreams.  I saw something that could allow me to ACTUALLY live the dream.

My dream is MUCH MUCH different from everyone else.  My dream is a mixture of a lot of things, but the point is Empower Network let me dream.  The BEST part is that they gave me a plan to go GET that dream.

I don’t have to change myself, I don’t have to work harder than I did at my last job as a cook,…

I just have to go GET IT!!

Don’t be a sold a dream that isn’t yours!
