A Better Solution to Gun Control

Since the recent Sandy Hook shootings, the argument for gun control has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues.
Gun control is the obvious solution to such heinous crimes. We would be able to regulate who would be able to own and operate a gun. Also, everyone would have a license to operate a gun, thereby making them a public registrant.
But is this really the answer?
Gun Control and the 2nd Amendment
The 2nd Amendment is a VERY OLD amendment, based in a history that dates back to the colonial times. However, no one has ever seem to be able to eradicate from the Constitution.
Why is that?
When the 2nd Amendment was ratified, we were still fighting a war against the British in 1689. The “right to bear arms” came out of giving the people the right to form their own militia to defend against a tyrannical government.
Do we have that problem anymore?
The only way the Amendment has any basis for keeping it around today is “facilitating against a natural right of self-defense.” But what would happen if gun control was legalized and the right to bear arms was stiffened to just people who hunt? Who would we have a right to defend ourselves against?
Gun control is a solution that warrants consideration on the ground that it doesn’t have any bearing to today’s current situation. The world would be safe if there were NO GUNS ALLOWED! All we’d have to defend ourselves against would be muggers, robbers, and people carrying knives.
Alternate Solution to Gun Control
Although this has nothing to do with gun control whatsoever, Morgan Freeman made a GREAT argument that investing in mental health research might possibly solve the issue of people gunning down whole groups of innocent people
What makes a person come to the decision to kill innocent people? Is it mental health?
Would talking to a counselor or giving them drugs help bring their bodily function back to equilibrium?
It’s possible. There were unresolved demons at work inside these killers.
What I find extremely disturbing about the Sandy Hook killer is how NO ONE knew him well enough to say anything important about him. How sad it is to go through life without ANY friends or anyone to confide in?
Did he confide with anyone in his own house? Even his brother’s friends knew OF him, but knew nothing ABOUT him. Is that a sad household when your own brother does not even acknowledge his own existence?
The REAL Solution to Gun Control

How true is that? Our values have shifted dramatically in the last 30 years. No longer is the family the center piece of our lives. Our work is more important.
What does this do?
We neglect our children growing up. We forget to just BE with them and watch them grow and nurture them and succeed as parents and fail as parents…in front of them.
Although I would love to make a law for parent control in order to make sure children grow up with loving parents, that’s unlikely and stupid.
