Fading Of Tattoos – Reasons And Protection
One of the biggest issues that the tattoo fans face is the fading of colors. Tattoos are most beautiful in its early stages, because the colors are vivid and bright. But like many things in life and tattoos fade over time. But when it comes to very bright colors like purple, orange, red, purple and yellow, then the fading resistance is minimal and your beautiful tattoo will get old faster than you think. Why is this happening? Check below and you will find out.
Why tattoos fade over time?
The most common reason for fading of the tattoo is because it is exposed to the ultraviolet rays. When the ultraviolet rays touch your tattoo, its colors will fade soon or later. If you want to make a tattoo, you may want to choose a place that will be exposed to sunlight to
minimum. It is also better if you use sunscreens during the hot summer months. The top skin layers are always damaged by the UV rays, so do everything possible to minimize that process.
The experience of the tattooist is also very important. If you choose a specialist who doesn’t have much experience, then you will have problems with your tattoo for sure. Experienced tattooist knows how to apply the pigment in the best possible manner and this will ensure the better quality and resistance to fading.
Many people say that their tattoo looks older than it really is. Therefore, you have to think about the colors that you want in advance. Stick to darker colors like black, dark blue, green and etc. These colors will better withstand the test of time. As you age, your skin also ages. The correct skin care will protect your tattoo too. If you manage to delay the aging process, then you will have colorful tattoo for prolonged period of time.
Do not be fooled – the clothes do not always protect the tattoos!
Many people think that if the hide their tattoo under the cloths everything will be all right. But according to many specialists, the dangerous UV rays can penetrate certain materials, leaving your skin and your tattoo vulnerable. It is known that all white shirts have UV protection factor (UPF) of 7, so by wearing white cloths you will manage to ensure some small protection for sure.
How to protect your tattoo from fading?
- Use sunscreen every time when your tattoo is exposed to the sun.
- Moisturize your skin every day even if you are strong good-looking heterosexual men. After every bath you have to apply on your skin soothing lotion that will keep it moisturized. It is essential procedure during the whole year, especially in the summer.
- If you don’t want to display your tattoos, then keep them completely covered for preserving the colors. Darker and denser fabrics provide better protection than lighter clothing, except the completely white color.
- Keep your skin healthy – eat properly, drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated. Dry and scaly skin is unattractive and can easy fade the beauty of your tattoos.
White tattoos are a very challenging project to make look good and keep from fading.
