So What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a proven alternative form of medicine which originated in the cold north-west parts of China more than 2000 years ago. It is steadily becoming popular in other parts of the world. Acupuncture is found to be effective in resolving health issues like hypertension, back pain infertility and so much more. In fact a WHO report cites a long list of medical conditions which can be cured with Acupuncture.
The main advantage of Acupuncture is that it has no known major side effects. A study conducted in Germany in 2007 reported acupuncture to be more effective in treating lower-back pain than physiotherapy and medication. The study was conducted on 1,162 patients. These patients were given around 13,000 Acupuncture treatments for chronic lower-back pain. People who received acupuncture treatments reported 47.6 percent improvement while those receiving conventional treatments experienced a 27.4 percent improvement.
According to a study conducted in the UK, for every 10 women treatment with acupuncture, one would become pregnant, increasing the baseline pregnancy rate. The study was conducted to research the effectiveness of using Acupuncture in increasing the rates of pregnancy and live births with in vitro fertilization.
A study was published in “Circulation” in 2007. As part of this study, 160 patients affected by mild and moderate hypertension were given acupuncture treatments over six weeks. As a result of this treatment, these patients experienced a significant reduction in blood pressure (both systolic and diastolic). When the treatment was discontinued, the reduction was no longer present, showing the need for continued Acupuncture.
These are just a few of the many medical conditions that can be cured with Acupuncture. Many Acupuncturists offer their services. However, it is important to be treated by an expert Acupuncturist.
