Television schedule and the football season!

Television schedule

Beware of the television schedule of the football season!  There is no escaping it from September through January!  Women all over the United States have to surrender their family room to their husband and sons.  Football is on all day Sunday and evening, Monday night, and Thursday night.  If you want to see more than just professional football, Saturday, you can catch various college games.

Does the above scenario remind you of your house?  Your husband and son rule the family room all day Sunday!  Sometimes, I feel they need to find another place other than the family room to monopolize the television.  It is nice to have the televsion on while you are preparing meals in the kitchen.  Usually the kitchen is close to the family room, and you can see the television.

Is it time to negotiate with your husband?  Does he hold the family room hostage all day Sunday without thought to anyone else?  Does he put everything on hold and do the bare minimum, if anything on Sunday?  Chance are this is happening in seven out of ten households in the United States of married couples.

I believe a serious conversation needs to begin on football season.  The family room was given that name so various members of the family can make use of it, not just one or two members!  Since football has invaded our Sundays and has seeped into our Monday and Thursday nights, some agreement needs to be settled upon before the takeover of the family room!

Another television in another section of the house would be part of the negotiations.  Another things to agree upon, is that your partner needs to complete all of his household duties before he collapses on the couch all day and night on Sunday.  Maybe you can agree on what football games he can watch, instead of it being an all day affair!

Football even invades Thanksgiving!  The men are watching it on TV and the women are slaving to put the meal on the table.  Come on guys, be realistic!  Either you help prepare some of the dishes in advance, or you do not get to watch football games on Thanksgiving!  Better yet, maybe the women should not cook and order out at the mens expense.  After all, they have had years of Thanksgiving without any participation and all relaxation!

You need to be better prepared before the next television schedule of football season.  That is the time to have the serious conversation with your partner, or things will be the same status quo!
