It is amazing how much technology advances in the last 100 years or so. My parents could brag about things such as the radio, telephone, and the automobile. In my life, I have seen many technological advances. It amazes me that people have cell phones and cannot live without them. I remember when your only option was to use a land line or a pay phone. By the way, you do not see too many pay phones around anymore.
People have options on their cell phones that they are able to obtain data. It is really mind boggling! Think about texting! People can text messages around the world. That is insane!
The computer has really come into it’s own. When I was in college, you used to have to type on data cards, and then give it to the computer assistant. The computer assistant would run your cards through the big massive computer, the size of a car. Now look what you can do with a computer! You can type information directly on the screen and obtain or print out information from it. It is the size of a small screen TV.
Internet access and email, google, wikipedia, has allowed people to connect worldwide and obtain information at the drop of a minute, without having to go to the library. Any question anyone can come up with can be answered by going on the computer.
Another technological advance, is nuclear power. It has taken us out of the age of using coal and polluting the air. There is a downside to nuclear power. It can used in weaponry and mass destruction. I guess with every upside their is a downside.
The list of technological advances goes on and on. IPODS are fantastic. Being able to carry around a list of hundreds of favorite songs is fantastic! When I went to college, I had to bring a record player, speakers, and records. Now all a kid has to bring is his IPOD and maybe IPOD speakers. IPADS, Nooks, Kindles, Smart phones, and there is probably a few others I am missing. As you get older and older, you will realize how much technology advances.
One of my favorite technological advances is laparoscopic procedures, that take the place of surgery. I do not know about you, but I don’t want to be cut open. This procedure is more efficient, heals faster, and probably is cheaper. So as technology advances, it usually improves our lives and makes things easier.
