During this holiday season be sure to stop and count your blessings
This last few days have been emotionally exhausting.
As more and more details unfold regarding the Newtown shootings….
….my heart continues to break.
I just found out today that one of my really good childhood friends is a youth minister at the church where the memorial services were held.
He knew all the families that were affected by this.
I grew up just 10 minutes from Newtown, CT in the town of Brookfield.
And this certainly hits home for me.
But….
….this is not meant to be a sad post.
Everything that has been written about this horrible tragedy has been written.
And will continue to be written.
My perspective is one of hope.
During these times it is important to count your blessings.
At the end of a calendar year it is very normal to “stop and reflect.”
The holidays bring hope….
….and joy....
….and celebration.
And for me, my message is simple “stop!” and count your blessings.
If you count your blessings you will keep your WHY front and center
If you have been around me for a while you know my WHY.
Your why is simply “your purpose.”
“What drives you?”
When you count your blessings your why is who or what you are grateful for.
The older you get the more you fine tune your count your blessings list.
Some things seem less important to me now.
Other things become more important.
When you count your blessings you fine tune what is important
Here is a great exercise to put this into view.
(My wife and I do this from time to time)
If your house was on fire, and you had 30 seconds, what would you take?
(assuming your family/pets get out safe)
For me….there is very little.
Maybe my computer.
Maybe our wedding album.
Nothing else is that important in the grand scheme of things.
If you stop to “count your blessings“ you will put into perspective what is important.
Count your blessings as you move forward in the New Year
This next year is going to be a great one.
I just know it will be.
This past year has been one of transition.
My wife and I both started new businesses.
We have a new sense of purpose now.
There is “excitement” in our house.
The great news is that we know what we want now.
That is 90% of the battle.
I want to build my online business to replace my current job income.
That is a clear intention.
My goals are set.
I have a huge head start moving forward into the new year.
There is no time wasted trying to identify it.
And, more importantly, I have the tools now to “accomplish everything.”
See for yourself, by “watching this video.”
The new year brings a restart button.
What things are you going to accomplish?
Is it time for you to start a new business?
Is it time for you to walk the beaches of the world?
Or “create an income“ that replaces your current income?
Maybe “create more time” to spend with your family.
When you count your blessings, stay focused, you “can achieve anything.”
