New Year Resolutions – Thought Shifting To a New Era

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

New Year Resolutions, Why Must This Year Be Different From Preceding Years?

New Year resolutions are commitments that people make at the beginning of a new year and try as much as they can to stick by them. In most cases, they are things that such people have failed to do in their previous years and thus are mostly great challenges. However, the general direction of these new year resolutions is positive thinking (this is The Secret). Many people want to do something positive at the beginning of a new year and barely anyone has time for wicked resolutions. As stated earlier, the resolution is a commitment and thus you are bound to it for the coming 365 and a quarter days.

This year though you must take the new year resolutions even more seriously than the years before and the reason is that a new Era has just arrived and you must take advantage of it this year, other ways you will be left behind. Behind from the real good things live has to offer to those that think positive, like been money independent and filled with knowledge and happiness. And you can find all that right here at Empower Network.

How would you identify Your New Year resolutions?

For many people, it may be just about picking up something and making it a new year resolution. However, such new year resolutions do not usually last. It is critical that you do some self-searching and see where you fail to meet the expectations. Look at the things that pull you back and make a new year resolutions about changing them. Such things would include the following:

Alcoholism
Drug addiction
Oversleeping
Not keeping fit
Being Antisocial
Laziness towards goals etc

Looking at the list above, many people are able to identify with at least one vice that has always kept them away from their goals. By knowing what the problem is one can then come up with reliable New Year resolutions.

Stating the New Year resolutions

You have to start with yourself. Identify the problem and agree with yourself that it is a real setback to you and has brought a lot of destruction to your life. It is only after you convince yourself that you have the problem, that your conscience will be positive all the way. Mere naming of the resolution and stating that you will keep it does not usually work. People have started very well in the past with their resolutions but ended up back into their yesteryear’s lives. You thus need to be serious with your statement and be willing to stick to it for a change.

Believe in the New Year resolution

A resolution is an urge for change and in this context, there is the fundamental requirement of faith. You have to believe in your ability to perfect the change throughout the year no matter how hard it might get. For people to believe in you, and thus your resolution, there is the need to begin with yourself. Trust yourself and stay that way to see the resolution grow into the better person that you want to become. Getting psychological help, for example when you want to quit drinking and drug abuse, is wise. The professionals will give you the support and tips to see you through.
So, for you to make  tangible New Year resolutions, know the problem, agree that it is the enemy and then believe in your ability to counter it all the way. With such organization and attitude, you are able to make a resolution that will change your life in the coming days. You can seek for support from friends and family in your new outfit and ensure that you are as disciplined towards your resolutions as possible. Happy New Year!
