Teddy Lim

Teddy Lim built a blog around a simple idea: study people who were unusually good at something, then work out what actually transfers to you. He calls it standing on the shoulders of giants and runs it as a series.

Malcolm X and Andres Bonifacio each get a post, chosen for how they moved crowds rather than for their politics, and there is a piece on the lost art of political oratory that ties the whole series together. The interest throughout is in persuasion as a craft that can be examined, taken apart and learned, rather than as a gift some people happen to be born with.

Alongside that sit notes on selling, including a breakdown of a David Wood call arguing that closing is a process rather than a numbers game. The two halves of the blog fit together better than they first appear: both are asking why people say yes.

It is a short blog, but the oratory and giants posts are the reason to be here. Read those first and treat the marketing posts as the application of them.
