The Buffet Gates Giving Pledge started in 2010 when Warren Buffet and Bill Gates called on the mega rich to pledge the majority of their riches to charity.
Being part of the Mega Rich circles Warren Buffet and Bill Gates where able to pin down the wealthy individuals to discuss what they can do in the form on philanthropy even though we are in a recessionary period of world economy.
Many of the world’s super wealthy decided that they would join the Buffet Gates Giving Pledge, but when philanthropy took a deep decline during this tough period, Buffet and Gates decided to publicize their (and others) effort to basically give away a big portion of their wealth back to the economy.
Buffet Gates Giving Pledge – Must be Long Term
Buffet immediately realized that a movement like this will only be a short term gain for philanthropy and stressed that the main goal would be to make the Buffet Gates Giving Pledge a sustainable effort.
The idea behind publicizing the effort was to set an example to other super wealthy individuals so that they can follow in the same footsteps.
Buffet Gates Giving Pledge – Going Global
Make no mistake, Buffet and Gates got their wealth from thinking big and going global so this movement was definitely not going to be restricted to the USA alone. They both put in significant effort to meet with the super wealthy world wide to ensure they get commitment from them to join.
A lot of the signatories where already involved in philanthropy, but joining the Buffet Gates Giving Pledge gave them a platform to publicize without negative recourse. What they are doing (or have done for a while already) is now seen a full commitment and they are applauded for their actions.
Buffet Gates Giving Pledge – Sustainable Effort
Off course no billionaire will just be giving away 95% of their wealth in cash right away. It is done through trusts and ensures that their efforts are sustainable for their charities they support as well as for their own generations to come.
Some might say this is all a big publicity scam, but I say it is very clever and every person that has joined the Buffet Gates Giving Pledge should be applauded for their commitment to a sustainable donations to charities.

What does the Buffet Gates Giving Pledge mean for me?
It’s quite simple – I want to be one of the billionaires that give my wealth away. I want to add my name to the list and be applauded for my philanthropy and I do have a plan to do that.
For the time being though I do my part of wealth creation through Empower Network. It might not be 95% of my wealth at the moment, but the nature of Empower network is to give, to help other make their first money online and to do that without the hassle with other online businesses.
