Why Board
What is Your WHY?
We all take so many things for granted in life. The irony is that all the things that usually matter the most are often the ones that are FREE. Think about it. I’m sure you’ve seen it in movies, where someone usually a very (materially) wealthy person lay dying in bed and they wish they could have done things differently. Spend more time with the people they love and care about. Not to mention, what can you take with you when you die? You come into the world with NOTHING and you’ll leave this world with NOTHING.
Here is a list off of the top of my head that I came up with:
- The air we breathe
- Our health-until we get sick or we lose it
- Our loved ones when they pass away
- Your eternal destination (heaven or hell)-do you know where you’re going?
- Our five senses (sight, smell, sound, touch and taste)-imagine losing any of them, your world will turn upsy turvey.
- What about your pinky toe? You’ll be amaze how much it hurts when you stump it, and if you were to lose it…it’ll mess up your balance. BIG TIME.
Bucket List of Things to Do Before You Die
We chase after so many things in life that are meaningless. They may give you momentary pleasure or joy but in the end it leaves you empty. Like King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible.
“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” What do people gain from all their labors at which they toil under the sun? Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes; ever returning on its course. Al streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again. Al things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing. What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say, “Look! This is something new”? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time. No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them.” Ecclesiastes 1: 2-11

Make a Why Board
Take some time and ask yourself some hard, honest questions. What is your WHY? What motivates you to get up out of bed? If there were no limitations or boundaries start imagining your PERFECT day, what does that look like? Close your eyes and envision it. From the moment you wake up until you lay your head down on the pillow. Jot down or type down what that day looks like and what are all the things that motivates you, that truly matters to YOU. Get a poster board and start going through pictures or magazines and compile a picture of your WHY and make your own WHY BOARD. Place it somewhere you can see every day. Every morning and every night. Start dreaming BIG. Start writing down your specific goals that will help you get to your Why! Break it down into a daily action plan.
And then like the famous Nike slogan. “Just DO IT!” Do you have a plan to get to your why? If not, check out how Empower Network is helping me to attain my Why! What does your why board look like?
