Play Dough Recipe with Coffee Grounds

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Hey everybody!

I have a new recipe for you!

Save up your coffee grounds!!! They can be used to create an
amazing play dough that will have your children’s senses tingling! ;)

This play dough has a wonderful aroma of coffee (for the coffee lovers)
and a texture that gets you and your children talking in all sorts of descriptive ways!

Jackson helped me to make this play dough right from the start! He learned measurements with cups  and 1/2 cups, learned how to follow a recipe and also some new words to his ever expanding vocabulary! ;)

Used Coffee Grounds, Salt and Oatmeal

Mixing the ingredients!

Used Coffee Ground Play Dough Recipe

2 cups Used coffee grounds

1/2 cup salt

1   1/2 cups oatmeal (dry)

water

Combine ingredients and add enough water to make pliable. Children like to work with this mixture. It has a nice texture and is easy to use. This cannot be picked up easily to save for finished products. It can be used for rolling and cutouts.

All mixed up!

These are a few of the pictures from the fun of just making this play dough!

And now the real fun! Playing with it!!!

Jackson using some of his “chubby” cars to make tracks!

How does the play dough feel Jackson?

(With a Play dough ball he made) “It’s heavy and it doesn’t break easily!”

(When he patted it down) “It feels smooth when you do it like this!”

(When he made it into a mound) “When you do it like this, it feels rough!”

(When he holds it up high and drops it back onto the baking sheet)

“Ahh, coffee grounds falling from the sky!”

What are you making Jackson?

“I’m making a masterpiece Mom but it’s not Facebook ready yet!”

“My masterpiece is ready! It looks like a face, he’s balb!” (Bald LOL)

Another shot of the masterpiece! ;)

These are just a few of the things that we did with this play dough for today!

Excited to see what creations he makes tomorrow!

He was able to make a fun mess and clean up was fairly easy due to the cookie sheet to play on! ;)

What do you see in Jackson’s masterpiece?

Write it in the comments below! ;)

Remember, Jackson loves to hear your comments LOL!

Oh by the way, Jackson was in charge of cleaning his cars!

Making Clean up Fun! ;)

Filled a bin with some water and dish soap, gave him a sponge and laid out a bath towel!

Clean up = Fun!!!!

He had a blast!!!!

Have fun with your little ones! They don’t stay small long!

Leave us a comment below and feel free to share with others who need something different to do with their children! ;)
