What’s the Difference between Imagination and Visualization?

Imagining or imagination means you use your mind to think about the way you want things to be. Visualizing or visualization means you create a clear picture in your mind of the things that you imagine. You use the two concepts together to manifest your passionate desires – wants, goals and dreams.

Imagination and Visualization are two completely different concepts. Additionally, the results of each are different as well.

The reason you need to have imagination is that it is the vehicle that speaks to your subconscious mind. The difference between imagination and visualization is that with imagination you are imagining your wants and desires as you want them to be. However, you imagine these wants and desires as though they exist now, in the present. In addition you imagine your wants and desires in great detail. Some of the details will answer these questions.

  • What do your wants and desires look like?
  • What is going on when you realize them?
  • Who is with you when at this time?
  • What beliefs do you have?
  • What are you doing at this time?

These are just some of the questions you may use to flesh out the details.

You use visualization to picture a visual image in your mind and see it in detail. Visualization is useful in meditation or to quiet the mind. The pictures you visualize cannot influence your subconscious mind on their own because they do not have the power by themselves to speak to your mind.

Let’s take a look at how they work together. Here is an example of using imagination and visualization.

When Thomas Edison invented the light bulb he first imagined using electricity to make light. He imagined many ways of to use electricity to create light. Then, he pictured them in his mind.

After many trials and failures, he finally imagined the light bulb. Then, he visualized what he had imagined clearly in his mind. In other words, he could see a clear picture of what he imagined.

The the end result was the successful invention the electric light bulb. Edison had used his imagination and visualization in the creative process of inventing this amazing device.

Indeed, if you think about all of the other things that have been created by mankind, each one started in a person’s imagination, was visualized by them, and then became real manifestations of their dreams through the power of their minds.

Let’s Take a Closer Look at Imagination!

I think you can see the point of starting with your imagination and imaging things that you want or desire. This action points your mind in the direction of manifesting those imagined things. In other words, it focuses your mind on what you want or desire.

You may write down what you imagined on a piece of paper, but you need to do more than merely committing what you’ve imagined to writing it on paper. You need to actively imagine what you want or desire often so that it becomes a part of your subconscious or unconscious mind. You can accomplish this by imagining your want or desire in great detail.

The key here is that you are thinking – imagining – it in detail and your subconscious mind is following along. You unlock your subconscious powers and cause them to generate the energy necessary to manifest your want or desire.

What Are the Keys to Successful Imagination?

There are a number of things that are keys to successful imagination.

  • Be sure you are imagining in the present. Use present tense.
  • Be sure to keep your aura strong. The reason is it permits you to have strong energy flow.
  • Be sure you have a strong mental focus. Be in control of your mind so you can devote your strong concentration to imagining what you want in detail.
  • When you have finished imagining, keep yourself free from negative thoughts by actively imagining yourself as you want to be. Be active and use positive thoughts to recall what you’ve just imagined. Repeat this whenever a negative thought tries to pop into your mind.

How Often Should I Practice Using Imagination?

You should practice using your imagination as often as possible. Set aside about five minutes for each session.  Then, perform each session about four times a day to start. You might set aside the time to do these sessions at morning, noon, early evening and just before bed time. Take action and do this practice. Then see the change in your life!
