Recall the Many Blessings in Your Life

Each Thanksgiving it has been a tradition in our family to stop and consider the many blessings we have. For years, I made a list the week of Thanksgiving so that I could have it in mind when I offered grace for our Thanksgiving meal.

I offered thanks for many of our blessings.  Here are some examples.

  • For my family – children, their husbands and wife, and my grandchildren
  • For my children’s graduations from high school and college
  • For the food on our tables
  • For the shelter of our homes
  • For the challenges of our lives
  • For the many other blessings of our lives, successes and failures, good times and bad

This Thanksgiving Will Be at My Oldest Daughter’s Home

Both of my daughters live close to me, and that is a blessing. My son and his family moved to Dallas, Texas last spring. I miss my son his wife and my granddaughter and grandson very much.

However, my daughters, their husbands, their four sons and me will gather at my oldest daughter’s house for Thanksgiving dinner and fellowship. Each of us is bringing a side dish or two, and my oldest daughter is fixing the turkey.

We are looking forward to having a good time and to giving thanks for our many blessings. The four grandsons are lucky because two of them are 10 and two of them are 7, so they get along very well.

The men will most likely watch football on TV while the women prepare the dinner. Then, we’ll gather round the table, thank the Lord for His many blessings and enjoy a wonderful meal.

And all of this is possible because we are so blessed to live in this wonderful country where we are at liberty to worship how we wish, free to speak as we wish, and have the opportunity to build our lives the way we want them to be.

Thanksgiving Is Truly a Time for Us to Be Thankful!

So, count your blessings and be thankful for them. And have a Happy and Wonderful Thanksgiving Day!
