P90X Review My Experience

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

A few years ago, I fell asleep while I was watching TV. Not sure what I was watching, but I woke up early and seen an infomercial for P90X. I watched the testimonials and short segments of the DVD. After that I went online and went to Youtube to look for a P90X review, and I did not see any negative P90X review. All were positive. This was in January, 2010.

Going back a little, I had been going to a university gym for a couple of years almost everyday. However, my membership expired and I did not want to pay for another year (they only did year memberships at the time). So I stopped going to the gym. During that time, until I was watching the P90X infomercial, I had gained some weight.

So like many when I saw P90X and the results many were having I was motivated to start to lose some weight and get back into shape. So I went to the website and bought it, and bought all the up sells. I thought I would go through P90X, and it would be easy after a little while, so I bought more DVD that is supposed to harder. I bought some bands for resistance, a pull-up bar, and a 30-day supply of a recovery drink.

P90X Review: Getting Starting

About a week later, it arrived in the mail. I went through the diet book that comes with P90X and worked out a diet that follows the first phase and something I could follow. It was basically a high protein and low-carbohydrate diet. I started the exercise program.

It was much harder than I thought. I would exercise a few days here and there. I was not consistent and constantly stopping after a week or two. I would always come back a week or two later and starting P90X again. I stopped exercising because I was losing weight because I was sticking closely to the diet. 6 months go by and I had lost between 15-20 pounds.

Another reason I would stop the workouts was the high-protein diet, would bunk or diet. Ifeel sick when I was doing any cardio part of the workout. So it may be that if you are going to do the diet to add some carbohydrates to your diet. In addition, adding some recovery drink to your water while you are working out. This is what Tony Horton says in one of the workouts.

I got down to a weight that I was happy with, and this was not from doing anything of the workout. I wish I could say I looked like Michelangelo’s David, but I was very far from that. So I did later come back and made it into phase 2 of the program (past 30 days). This was missing a day or two here and there, but just picking up where I left off. Many times this was taking 2 weeks to do 6 workouts in P90X.

Many times I would start, but stop and start over again. I did not stop because I was not seeing results. Actually, I would see small results after just one week of P90X. Mostly, it was because it was hard, and I would be very sore and tired while going through the program. Furthermore, trying to work it into my schedule was difficult at times.

P90X Review: Conclusion And What To Expect

P90X is a tough workout. You should expect to feel some burn while doing some of the exercises and be sore the next day. You may be a little tired while going through the workouts. Some of the workouts do get easier as you advance, but some will continue to be tough throughout the 90 days.

You can expect to see some results. While it may not be as phenomenal as the ones in the infomercial, you will see some results. Depending on your current physique you may need to go through a few rounds of P90X to see the results that you want.

Even though I never completed the 90-day routine, but I did see some results with the times that I did and do P90X. I cannot see someone going through the complete 90 days and not getting any results.

Just a bit of a warning: If you are not in decent shape, you will have to do a lot of modifications to make the exercises easier. They will show you some modifications in the DVDs. The other option would be to start with the P90 and then work your way to the P90X.

Be sure to expect a hard work, and you will feel great although sore as you go through the workout. I highly recommend P90X in this P90X review.
