Are You Coachable?
I want to know “Are You Coachable?” I suppose I should explain what that means and why it is important before you answer the question. Being coachable means that you are able to keep and open mind and follow directions from someone who is more advanced in the area you are trying to get better at. Are you like this? Are you coachable?
The opposite of coachable is someone who is close minded and second guesses their mentor, teacher or leader. Someone who only half hears the instruction and goes about doing things their own way.
Are You Coachable? Why It Is Important To Be
When you are trying to learn something new you should try to get someone to mentor you who is already accomplished at what you want to learn. When you do that you are in the best position to move forward in the direction you want to go.
Say for instance you want to learn how to golf. Do you want to be mentored by someone who is just starting out or someone who is already a pro? While I realize that getting a friends advice is typically free and a pro can be a bit costly, which person do you think you will learn the most from. Which one would you be more willing to accept direction from? Most likely the pro and not the beginner.
