Nourish Your Mind, 6th Core Commitment

The sixth core commitment is to “read daily”
Hold on, what does reading daily have to do with internet marketing you ask?
It doesn’t per se, it has to do with living life! It has to do with becoming the best person that I can be so that I can succeed at ANYTHING that set my mind on.
Just making a decision to do something does not get it done. Making a commitment to something, committing to taking action every day. Taking massive action every day. That is what gets it done!
Read EVERY day. Read something that is going to challenge you, that is going to help you to grow. There are so many books out there that there really is no excuse not to find one. Libraries across the world are just full of books just waiting to be read, and most of the time they are available for free. Websites are popping up all the time that are willing to sell you any book that you could imagine and have it delivered to your front door tomorrow if you want it, or electronically delivered in a matter of seconds! And most of them are even able to make recommendations based on what your interests are or based on what you have read previously….NO EXCUSES
We have talked before about the importance of growing a team, and the only way that we are going to be able to grow a team, is if the leader is growing themselves.
In part of the video, David Wood talks about his admiration for John Maxwell ( I own several of his books!) and told a story about him.
Back with John was 18 years old, he made a commitment to do the following EVERY day:
Read for 1 hour
Write for 1 hour
Think for 1 hour
He said that after a year, he did feel a little different. After 2 years he felt a noticeable difference. After 5 years there was a dramatic difference.
Then he said that after 10 years of doing this, the difference was so big that people thought that he was born wealthy (which he wasn’t), and that after 20 years it was so powerful, that friends that knew him from 20 years prior could not believe the difference in him.
So start now. Make a commitment to read daily, 30 to 60 minutes at least. Turn off the TV, get off the internet and focus on reading for that short period of time so that you can become the leader that you were born to be and achieve the greatness that is just waiting for you
Gotta read something for sure…I currently teach and coach a couple sports. One of the sports requires a daily bus ride with the students to our practice facility and in the past I would always just scroll through facebook and the like, now on the way there, I have a book with me so expand my mind in that time while I have some available light! Then once I get back to my car, I always have some sort of audio book as well going on, so it is a complete drive time university!
It is amazing how much time we really have to read when we actually look for it. Thanks for sharing Dave!
I heard that John Maxwell did that in his book and I try to stick to that daily it’s so awesome. I don’t know one successful person that doesn’t read.
Reading daily for the mind is like exercising daily for your body. They go hand-in-hand!
This is so true! Thank you for sharing. And that goes into one of the posts that I’ve shared on my own blog about how your brain works. Learn something new in small chunks and you’re more likely to retain it. So 15-30 minutes a day (or 10 pages) and you’d be amazed at what you’ll learn in a week … month … and a year? That’s 3,650 pages!
Exactly Kassandra! Seems like the hardest thing for people to do is to just start. Repeat each day, make it a habit and you are golden.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
Reading changed my life

Thanks Saif! Reading is awesome, but one of my goals is to get in shape and do a cameo in one of your action videos!!! 🙂
