Google Plus Social Media Features
“Google Plus” provides similar capabilities to Facebook. Users can place videos, pictures and links. They can also post updates and messages in their “stream”. The +1 button, which is similar to the Like button in Facebook, is used to recommend pages or updates to your friends.
There are various benefits to using Google Plus, most especially for business owners who are interested in online marketing. Check out some of these benefits to take advantage of by using Google Plus:
* Like Facebook, Google Plus has added a feature to their site that allows you to create a page for your business. These brand pages will allow business owners to market their businesses online.
* Circles is a great feature of Google Plus that will allow you to group and designate your contacts. The primary benefit of this feature is to keep the information to selected contacts if you do not want to share the information with everyone. Google makes it very easy to add contacts to your circles. For a business, you may want to include several circles like customers, employees and prospects. When you post an update, you choose which group of contacts to share that information with.
* When users click the +1 button on your website content or on your Google Plus page, contacts in your circles will see that content has been marked as important or helpful to another person reading your site. The number of +1′s will also show in your search results. This can encourage people using the search engines to check out your content. At this time, Google does not use +1 to change it’s search engine rankings but could in the future.
Google Plus should be another tool in your social media marketing strategy along with Facebook and Twitter. It gives your clients an additional place to find you and more opportunities to get found in the search results.
