Build Your List Faster – Finding The Sweet Spot

I never studied marketing. I thought I was going to be a translator.

Of course I ended up in business – and like many of us, I learn marketing as I go.  I think that worked out, after all marketing is a pretty dynamic field.

Things change rapidly.

But one thing hasn’t changed. Every marketer needs a list, prospects, potential customers.  It’s all about the list.

The Sweet Spot

The sweet spot:  it’s the center of your tennis racquet when you hit the ball just right.

The sweet spot: when you hit the ball on just the right part of the club that give you maximum distance and accuracy.

The sweet spot: when you have just the right dessert that satisfies the craving for something sweet 🙂

Well guess what – marketing has a sweet spot too!

In marketing talk, the sweet spot is that happy place where your business’ capabilities and your customers’ needs overlap.

As a Blogger,  What Does the Sweet Spot Mean For You

Finding the sweet spot for your blog involves means:

  • Identifying your readers’ interest
  • Where is the gap – what are other bloggers not addressing?
  • What does your blog offer, that no other site offers?

This is the sweet spot. The spot your competitors can’t match.

It’s what you give that they can’t. Your experience. Your voice.

As marketers, finding a spot that lacks a certain presence is what will drive traffic to your site/blog.

Think about it this way:

If you find there is a need for for information about adoption, for example, from parents’ perspective, you’ve just identified a readers’ need.

But who is this audience?  Going a step further can identify who they are?  Narrowing your target market is one of the secrets to growing your list.

While competition might sound like a scary word – it’s not. In fact, there should be competition in your field.

Remember that no competition means nobody is interested.

After you’ve determined that there is competition, see what’s missing.  What would you be looking for if you were looking for this information.  That’s the sweet spot!

What does the sweet spot means for list expansion?

Growing a list is the most important element of marketing.

The goal is for you to become the greatest blogger in your niche.

People want to hear about your experience.  They want to connect and if you are open they will connect and come back to hear more.

Often.

Have you identified a sweet spot in a niche that you and your blog can fulfill?

Do your research.  Find  your sweet spot.  People want to hear from you.

You offer your unique and personal perspective and that is what they want.

That is why marketing has changed.

That’s why reality sells more than polished ads.

Think about it.

Find  your sweet  spot.  You have something special to offer.
