Social Media Secrets That Will Help Boost Your Social Marketing Campaigns
To run a successful social media campaign, you have to follow certain social media guidelines.
The field of social media is not any different from any other playing ground. In every game, there are the players, those who are watching, the referee and definitely the rules that govern the game! Social media is a game, and it has all these components too!
But the field in this case is the internet, and the internet has been notoriously known as a ‘field without rules’ let alone the referee. Does this mean that everything should just be let to run around freely without some control? Does this allow you as a marketer not to care about your promotion techniques?
No it doesn’t; in fact, things are very tough for you if you decide to throw caution aside and not care about the social media guidelines.
Let me give you a word of caution…as long as you do not care, you will always lose out!
How is this?
Because if you play against the rules regardless of how faint they are and how liberal the playing ground is, your customers will punish you. You will not make any leads and no one will want to be associated at all with you.
Of course, I know you love your business and I doubt if you’ll want to let this happen. Money is at stake here.
What are social media guidelines?
As I’ve mentioned above, every game has rules and social media guidelines are the rules that guide and govern social media marketing.
Once a marketer has decided to go into utilizing this very powerful platform, they must sit down and draft these guidelines. This will help avoid conflicts going forward and will also help assign roles to respective persons. This is one of the most important aspects of ensuring that your social media marketing efforts yield maximum results for you.
Why are social media guidelines important to you as a network marketer?
The answer to this question is simple; social media guidelines simply give directions on the actions to be taken during the marketing. You can look at them like a map that helps a sailor get where they are going.
Common social media guidelines
So, what are some of the common social media guidelines that your marketing plan should embrace?
This is a question that not only you but most network marketers face. No one really has a clear idea on the set or expected social media guidelines. Its clear that a policy that limits and guides the marketing department of your project is necessary and inevitable. Below are some of the common guidelines your company should embrace.
1. Limit or control the information shared on your social networks. This helps a lot to control sharing misleading information that can be interpreted wrongly. Clear instructions should be given to the social marketing manager on the type of information that should be shared.
2. Every social marketing campaign should have some goals/targets. Lets face it guys, marketing is a department that requires clear and set goals at all times. If you lead a marketing team, there is a limit to the number of sales that have to be met that day. Once this is set, everyone works towards that target. The same applies when dealing with social media.
Setting a goal that has to be met is a crucial guideline that should appear in every social media company’s policy.
3. When addressing your following in social media, always use a consistent tone. Do not appear unprofessional by using a tone that might mislead them or post a message that will be translated differently.
4. Ensure that you set guidelines on how will you communicate and respond to messages coming via your social channels. This might appear like a simple guideline, but it is one of the most crucial ones that must be observed to the letter. You must state who is to respond to the messages that come in, and at what time they will respond. You have to be consistent and also professional when responding to these messages.
