Can you actually use Twitter to expand your network? The answer is definitely a YES! Here are some tips I’ve learned to help you expand your network and enhance your Twitter experience.

Twitter Marketing is effective but you have to have a plan of action before you just dive in. Make sure you have everything in place as far as posting your content goes and whatever material you choose to blast out. The good thing about Twitter is that there are awesome tools that can help you automate your posts and you will want to automate your status updates. After that you’ll want to go to your Twitter Page and stir up some new discussion and interact with your followers.

There are plenty of tools out there to maximize your Twitter experience. These tools will help you be more organized and schedule your updates. 1. Use a Professional looking photo of you and not anyone else – First and foremost, be sure to use a real photo of you and nothing else. Doing this will help you interact better with your followers because they can see who you are. If you use any online image or someone else’s photo it will make you appear as a Spam Bot or (Spammer) as most call it.

2. Behave Yourself – I encourage you to post nothing but professional content on Twitter. Nothing you wouldn’t want your kids to see you doing. Ask yourself, why are people following me? Is this something that can provide value for my followers? Is this something that they want to hear or read about? What are some helful tips? Then you base your tweets on that. If you have any second thoughts on your tweet ideas than don’t tweet them Better safe than sorry. Any sign of being Unprofessional and people will unfollow you in a heartbeat.

1. Be very careful on what you choose to put in your Bio – This can get you more Twitter followers or easily hurt your chances on getting a lot of followers. This is a short bio so make it count, try not to be too corporate or boring, no one wants to follow a boring and corporate tweeter. Your Bio is huge when it comes to Twitter users to decide if they are going to follow you or not.

2. Create a custom background – To look as professional as possible you will need your own unique background. You want to set yourself apart from millions of users that are using the default background. How do you get a customized background for your Twitter account? 2. Tweet your blog and retweet others tweets – Tweeting your blog posts are very powerful when it comes to interaction with your followers. A phenomenal way to interact with your followers is to tweet your blog readings, read your followers blogs, comment on them and retweet. Let them know by replying with a comment describing what you liked most about their blog. Another way is to retweet valuable tweets from your followers, especially if you have learned something new from them!
