To effectively drive traffic using YouTube for business, you’ll need to follow a very simple process:
3 steps to boost traffic when using YouTube for business
- Video Optimization
- Video Value
- Video syndication
Video Optimization
It all starts with Keyword Research! Using Google’s “Keyword Research Tool,” you can uncover keywords and keyword phrases that your audience is searching for. When doing keyword research keep a list of highly-searched keywords your find and then next time you need a topic refer back to your list.
It’s all about uncovering what videos you need to create based on your customers’ needs. What are your prospects searching for on a daily basis? How can you be found every time they search Google?
Using YouTube for business by optimizing your “about this video”
Search engines don’t read video’s or pictures therefore you need to describe the video not only to your prospecting customer but also to Google. Remember YouTube is owned by Google, so Google will index much the same way. Use your “about this video” under your video on YouTube just the same way you do a blog, Keyword optimize it. If you are a local brick and mortar business using YouTube for business then make your video title a local title. Let’s say you are a plumber and you do a video on how to repair a pipe and you live in Sacramento. Your video title may look like this “Fix a pipe in Sacramento” or (pipe fixing in Sacramento” Then also add this same title phrase in your paragraph or two in the about this video details.
Video Value
When using YouTube for business give value to the viewer and to Google.
You don’t need the best camera or the best lighting, although quality can go against you. Make sure to get the best camera you can afford and make sure your video is watchable. The cost of your camera, and what type of lighting you have is not nearly as important as the VALUE you deliver in your videos.
Give value in your videos. Teach something, show how to do something. Answer the questions and concerns that your viewers have! Give the viewer tips and information in your videos absolutely free! It’s very good to post new videos regularly. Just like a website Google likes to see new activity. If time is an issue a good strategy is to create several videos in one afternoon and then upload one a week for the next 10-12 weeks. This consistency creates momentum and exponential search engine results! Use a video to get people to visit your website for more information. When using YouTube for business every video should have a call to action. You can add at the end of the video or the beginning a call to action like, “click on the link under this video to read the rest of the story” or “Click on the link under this video to get your free ebook” I like to do a short video with my blog post keyword and just tell the viewer about a blog post I did about XYZ click on the link and read about XYZ!
Video syndication
Unless you’re Justin Beiber simply uploading your video to YouTube won’t get you the maximum exposure. Using YouTube for business you have to perform a few extra steps to ensure your video ranks at the top of YouTube and Google! Everything you do in the “Video syndication” step will help separate you from your competition and get you more views and ultimately MORE sales!
