State of medicine today

If you think Obama Care is going to solve the problems with the state of medicine today you are wrong.  Small business will get the worst of what is to come.  I am a small business owner and as my cost goes up so does the price of goods I have to pay for and that will be passed onto the consumer.  I am a doctor with a retail store on the side.  I am currently like many doctors who are looking for some way else to make a living because we are tired of fighting with insurance companies and yes patients to get paid for our services.  So many times the patient thinks since they have   insurance that they can ignore their deductible and we get stuck eating that cost.  The wise physician has learned that you have to collect at the window before letting the patient get to the back.  Combine this frustration with the never ending decreases in reimbursements it’s no wonder why doctors are looking elsewhere.  Why is it that our leaders in  as Washington can’t learn from other countries and yes, history as well, what works and what doesn’t.  What makes them think they can do it any better than anyone else that has tried Government run medicine.  They can’t even run Social Security or any of the other Welfare programs out there.  There is no incentive to hold cost down because each government office is funded based on their previous years budget.  The incentive is to spend every dime so their budget dosen’t get cut next year.  Look, I was in the Navy for over 30 years and I know how the money game goes.  No one will address the real problem and we all know what it is.  We have too many dependants on the system and it is growing because of what?  Hunger for Power by the left. How can they be so stupid as to go down that same road to disaster as many of the countries in Europe.  It’s all about buying votes by giving out free stuff which is not free at all because someone is paying for all that free stuff.  Back to medicine.  Watch how many doctors flee medicine over the next few years and ask yourself how come I can’t find a doctor that isn’t from our great country.  Many if not most don’t realize that most doctors weren’t born with a silver spoon in their mouth and had to work hard and go into debt at the same time live below the poverty line while going through medical school and the years of training.  Medicine is the only service that is not allowed to pass on the increased cost of doing business to the consumer, while the leaders in Washington vote for a cost of living raise every year.  Shame on them.  In the next 5 – 10 years try to find a doctor who isn’t a foreign medical graduate.  I fear for this country but have hope at the same time that we will eventually pull ourselves up like we have always done.
