21 Day Blogging Challenge

It’s 5:45AM – Time to rise and shine!

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

alarm-clock-645I am taking part in the “School for Consciousness Development and  Success”.  The school is run entirely thru the internet with webinars 3 times a week at 6AM. For me, that is early. It is a time I usually don’t get up, but if I want to succeed I have to do thing I don’t usually do, to get out of my comfort zone.  In fact, I get up at 5:45 so I have time to turn on the computer, get something to drink and be ready a few minutes early in case something doesn’t go right.  One time the webinar program didn’t start and I had to move to another computer, so by logging in 5-10 minutes early I have time to start the other computer if I have to.

Webinars

The webinar is a way to start on the day, with the right inspiration, mood and direction that will influence the whole day. Those two reasons are the why Yechiel Grady, who conceived and teaches the webinars, choose that hour.

The webinars are part of the activities of the Or Marpe Cooperative.  One of our projects is joining Empower Network as a group.  Working as a group, we can help each other succeed.  Each person can contribute what he or she is good at.  Yechiel is good at teaching. He doesn’t teach to give us knowledge.  He teaches so that we will change.  When we learn Kabbalah with him, it is “Kabbalah in order to transform ourselves.”  Also the “School for Consciousness Development and Success” is focused on change.

Getting up at 6 three days a week is a start.  The program used for the webinar requires logging in so he sees who comes and when.

Feedback

Another obligation, is to write feedback every time.  By doing this we need to understand what we heard, and how it affects us and what questions we have.

The best way to learn is to repeat or teach. By writing what we got out of the webinar, we internalize what we have learned.  It also helps the teacher know where we stand, what we understand, and what questions we have.

Personal Responsibility

Everyone on the call, is there because they want to be there.  Each day is dedicated to a different area: Professional Development, Personal Development and Financial development.  They are all related, but each one looks at things from a different viewpoint.  What they all have in common, is that they are related to how we think, how we feel and what our attitude and approach is.

Education

I think about how this approach to learning is different from a normal school.  Most schools, people attend them to get a degree, certificate and to be able to say they took the course and succeeded. They have to take a test to pass and therefore study for the test, and forget everything the next week, if not the next day.  And they come out of the course not much different that they started.

Life Changing

What we are doing here, I feel will change my entire life.  It is already changing the way I react to things, how I think and feel about myself and others.  It’s a slow process. But anything that is done slowly and surely has a better chance for success than something that is done fast and doesn’t hold.  It’s like with dieting and exercise programs.  Very often if you do an extreme diet or exercise program, you burn out after a while and go back to where you started or even worse.  You may gain back more than you lost or pull a muscle so you can’t do any exercise.  In order to change any habit or behavior, you need to do it over time for it to work. That is what we are doing here.  In order to be successful and to change our results, we have to  change who we are, by not just changing our actions but our thoughts and feelings as well.  I’ll keep you posted on the changes I notice in my life.
