Great Work-at-Home Ideas: Part I

If you want some great ideas on what type of business to start working from home, we have some ideas for you. There are many things you can try which others have found successful, or you can create your own, but here are a few very sound ideas to play with until you get your bearings:

Work at Home Ideas-

1) Start a catering business. This successful business is booming! Try opening a catering business from your home. You can focus on special events such as weddings or family reunions, or go more general and fix food for any occasion. The main thing to keep in mind with this business is to have plenty of inventory and a place to prepare the meals. While you can run the office stuff in this biz from home, you will also need a central location to prepare most of the meals.

2) Errand Service- If you like running errands for others, and don’t mind running all around town doing little jobs others don’t want to do, you can run a home business with this service. You can start up this business for minimal investment. Just put an ad in the paper and let folks know you’ll do it! Charge by the errand or monthly for regulars. And watch the profits roll in!

3) Assembly Service– If you are the mechanical type, consider a business where you are putting things together for people. Building bookcases, putting children’s toys together, and other items is a great way to make money doing something for people that is a help to them and saves them time. You can charge people based on how many items you put together, how long it takes, (bill by the hour), or a flat fee.

4) Garage Sale Organizer– If you can organize people’s garage or yard sales for them, you’ll be rolling in it! People like to make money and have sales, but I always hear them say they hate the preparation behind it. Some have even told me they cancelled their sale due to all the work behind it. If you are good at putting sales together, save them the hassle and they will pay you for it. For this service, charge them either a flat fee, charge by the hour considering how long it takes, or better yet, ask for a percentage of the sale, say 20% for doing so much of the work for them.

5) DJ Business– I have made money doing this service. I am a former radio announcer, but all you really need to do this business is a pair of turntables and sound system, a good mic, and lots of energy. You could use digital mixing equipment if you like and do it with mp3 players as well. There are lots of modern technology apps and equipment you can use now. You can even do this from your tablet or smart phone! So read about it and then purchase what you need to get started. Have fun playing dances and special occasions and make people happy and they will pay you for it! What a way to make money! The start-up cost on this biz will be a bit more than some of the other opportunities we mentioned, but it will pay off in spades.

These are 5 good businesses you can start at home without too much operating expense or start-up costs. Look into any of these business opportunities that interest you and you’ll be making money in no time. Any of these businesses fills a need people want, so there is no reason why one of them will not be a success. Take your time and grow your business. Over time, all your labors will pay off!
