Play Better Golf…
Increase the distance on your drives by refining your swing instead of swinging harder. Most weekend golfers try to bear down and swing harder to get more distance on the drive.
The low handicap golfer realizes that focusing on grip, foot placement and body alignment are more important to distance than effort.
Play Better golf with the Proper Golf Stance
To hit a drive properly and get the maximum distance on the drive, you must have a solid base. Your feet must be sold on both the backswing as well as the downswing.
You need to concentrate on balance throughout the swing. Placing your feet slightly wider than your shoulders should help keep you balanced.
Play Better Golf with the Proper Golf Grip
You need to have a relaxed grip, not a strong one. If your playing partner cannot turn the club in your hands with a minimum of effort, you are gripping the club too tightly.
Grip is a big key to accuracy. If you grip the club too tightly, you will find that your accuracy suffers.
Play Better Golf with Proper Body Alignment
To play better golf, you need to make sure that your body is properly aligned to the target.
The best way to assure yourself that you are aimed where you think you are is to practice with a club lying on the ground aimed at the target. You then align your feet with the club on the ground and your body should be properly aligned.
To translate this to the course, practice by stepping away from the club on the ground and coming back to it as if you were teeing up on the course.
This will give you perspective as to how the alignment looks without the club and help you take the change to the course without having to put a club down when you play.
Play better golf by incorporating just a few changes at a time
Once you have corrected (and firmly embedded) your stance, grip and alignment with straight shots, you can then go on to more advance shots such as the draw and the fade.
Golf is a game of infinite corrections and adjustments. Work on a few golf tips at a time until you have firmly made those changes a part of your game.
Trying to change too many parts of your game at one time will result in frustration and will hinder your effort to play better golf.
