Take Power Over Your Subconscious Mind

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Many of the challenges we face in life can be attributed to your subconscious mind. Take a minute to really just think about it. If you honestly were fully aware of how certain situations could be devastating to your development of success, then you wouldn’t take part in them. No one intentionally does things for the sake of not succeeding. I have some great examples of your subconscious mind at work and what you should do to avoid it disrupting you from attaining what you deem as success.

Bad Influences Through Your Subconscious Mind

When you are growing up you tend to choose your friends based on likes and similarities. If you shared similar interests, then there was a certain level of attraction between you. As you grow older, you take on different tasks leading down to different paths. At this point begins the separation. As an entrepreneur and friend of many myself, I understand that it can be difficult to leave friends in the past, for lack of a better phrase. You have to be comfortable with the fact that people grow apart. This doesn’t mean that you have to leave these friends alone entirely, but know who makes you better and who sort of brings you down.

Your subconscious mind will keep you in great contact with those who don’t encourage you to grow. There wouldn’t be a problem with this if you personally had no desire to grow, but since you do, take this into consideration. I know you’ve heard the phrase you are who you hang around. Think about your five closest friends. If your goal is to better yourself mentally, physically and financially, but they are content with staying where they are, then it is time to separate yourself. Don’t allow for your subconscious mind to take these small things and make them huge problems in your life.

Things Your Subconscious Mind Accept as Being Okay

Outside of the friends and people you decide to spend your time with, your subconscious mind also can allow for some bad behaviors and habits to continue. They may not be habits that you view as bad such as a smoking or drinking habit, but they can be ones that can delay or even expunge your success. What are some behaviors you indulge in on a regular basis that you feel could potentially be harmful to your success? For myself, this was always my bad habit of waiting to do the important things that needed to be prioritized as the first things to do. Yes, procrastination can be very harmful to anyone’s success. Your subconscious mind will take your procrastination and somehow justify it to be okay. You will find some reason to make the important things last on your to do list if it’s up to your subconscious mind. You really just have to find a way to take control over your subconscious mind and not let for your subconscious mind to control you.

How Can You Control Your Subconscious Mind?

What I’ve learned personally is that you have to just really sit back and think about your situation and how it is helping or hurting you. All your subconscious mind is, is your state of mind being unaware of exactly what things are truly harming you and how they are. It isn’t until you take this state of mind and give it awareness that you can start to make the necessary changes to positively affect your chances for success.

Become aware of your surroundings and the things you are doing. What are the results you have today? Your current results are a direct reflection of the choices you’ve made in your life thus far. It is a reflection of the people you hang around, the moves you make and the activities you take part in. If you want your results to change, then you must change. This all begins with your subconscious mind.

LET’S ENJOY LIFE!!
