Blogging Is Like a Game of Skip Bo

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Hanna and I have recently found the game Skip Bo. Turns out, it’s fun for a 6 year old… and her mom. :)

Skip Bo has a lot of moving parts, there’s a lot of ways you can take action… but there’s only 1 focus of the game.

The focus is to use all the cards in your “stock” pile. You can also play cards from your hand, and your discard piles but the focus of the game is to clear out your stock pile.

It’s amazing sometimes, Hanna gets on a roll, and she’s so excited to be taking ACTION, and playing cards, that she forgets the purpose of the game. She’s playing cards from her hand she has sitting on her stock pile.

I have to have her take a moment… and I ask her, “what’s the point of the game”? She takes a breath and tells me to get rid of the stock card pile, and then looks at it and realizes she could have played the card 4 cards ago. Then she flips it over and realized she would have been able to play the next one too, but she was too caught up in taking action, and playing cards, that she lost sight of what to focus on.

It’s very easy to do this in business as well… there are so many things you can be DOing… but the question is what to focus on.

What to focus on

As a business owner you need to know what the “point of your game” is. You need to know what your stock pile is. Because if you’re just out there creating a flurry of activity you may still be missing the one thing that will make you money.

For every business your “stock pile” or what to focus on will be different, but there is probably ONE thing (two tops) that you need to focus on to make your business a success.

The one goal is to get people to watch the video. Why? Because that starts the process. If they don’t watch the video they are not likely to understand the power and benefit of this system, and they are not likely to join. ever. period.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in what’s going on around you, the things that you think are not quite right, the things that are nice extras ~ but they are NOT the “stock pile”. You’ve got to keep your eye on the ONE thing that will make you money.

If you don’t know what that is for your business, I highly recommend you stop whatever you’re doing, and figure it out. Because if you don’t know WHAT you’re trying to get people to do… how on Earth can you get them to do it?!

A clear focus is one of the things I love most about Empower Network. I’ve blogged for years, and yet was never able to get so clear and focused about the one thing I needed to do to build a consistently profitable business.

Here at Empower Network… I was in profit the very FIRST day.

Clarity is powerful.

If you’re ready to give up the struggle, and stop pulling your hair out trying to do it all yourself. (believe me I know that feeling!!), just open your mind (for about 25 minutes) and watch the video.

I never knew it could be so easy… but it is.

Have an easy, fun and fabulous day ~ you deserve it!
