One of the biggest reasons that people quit or give up is because they feel like they aren’t making progress. Failure has a sneaky way of creeping into your head and planting doubt!
Whenever you start something new, it can be overwhelming. There’s so much to learn. There’s a ton to do. It feels like a never-ending project. Especially in the begining it can feel like you’re getting nowhere fast.
Truth is whenever you learn anything there is a ton of failure involved. How many times did you fall on your ass learning to walk? How many pitches did you miss before hitting your first ball? No matter what you can do now, you couldn’t always do it.
Failure is frustrating! It will piss you off, it will possibly create some doubt that you can do this. Whatever this is. But there is one simple thing you can do to get past it. It might not feel simple at first.
What is this magical trick?
Remeber what you have done right! No matter what you’re failing at, I bet there are parts of it you got right. Whether it’s you made a new connection, sent out an email, shot a video, posted a blog. You could have learned to use a new program or found a mentor. It doesn’t matter what is it. Give yourself credit and build on that good feeling.
Take a minute and think of everything you did right today. It’s probably a pretty long list. Way longer than the one failure that may have stopped someone else. Part of your Done Right list is that you didn’t quit.
