Fantastic ending!
Joo Hwa and Jung Do end up getting back together and have the best makeup sex of their lives. They find out later that Joo Hwa is pregnant.
Go Hae turns out to be good, after all. She plans to build a company at Inju still, but will not be importing waste. She will also stick to her word about building a new hospital.
Super sweet and romantic proposal by Jo Gook. There were many a times where I wanted to sock Jo Gook in his beautiful six-pack for “dating” Mi Rae while still engaged to Go Hae – even though that was the deal (Jo Gook uses Go Hae, but Go Hae gets to be president’s wife) – but his proposal to Mi Rae was so awesome, I can forgive him for all that (although not completely, but mostly).
Mi Rae is coming home from a party. As she walks the street to her home, a street lamp turns on and a sign reads, “I am the person who pays rent to live in Shin Mi Rae’s heart.” A little further down, another lamp turns on and the sign reads, “But instead of paying rent that is overdue, please accept this bag instead.” A third lamp turns on and on the floor stands a huge bouquet of flowers.
Mi Rae is stunned but walks in to her yard. Jo Gook has strung lights on all the trees in Mi Rae’s yard and he is standing there in his awesomeness and smiling at her. He turns on some music and walks towards her. He reaches out his hand and asks her to dance.
As they dance, she is looking lovingly in his eyes as if unable to believe he is there and they are dancing together. They lean in and touch foreheads. He then tells her:
“I have a dream. I want to be president. On my inauguration day, I want to dance with my wife, just like today.” The meaning of his comment didn’t quite get across to Mi Rae. Jo Gook then says, “Won’t you dance with me on my inauguration day?” The meaning finally dawns on her. She is emotional and they kiss!
Fast forward 5 years later, Jo Gook is making a speech during his presidential campaign and Mi Rae is in the crowd supporting him as Mayor and wife.
What a great drama. It left me with a smile on my face for hours after finishing the drama and that is exactly what good dramas are supposed to do. Great drama, great storyline, great actors, great proposal, great ending.
