Male Breast Cancer is not well known or talked about.

Last year 2000 men were diagnosed with male breast cancer.  25% will die from it.  Thousands more will go undetected.  Awareness will be the first weapon we must acquire in this battle.

If you have read many of my previous blog entries, then you could guess that I should be a founding member of the “I ♥ Boobies” movement.  I really do.  Women get all the attention for having “working” breasts, although that function is such a miniscule fraction of what they’re about for us.  Male breast cancer on the other hand is not funny or fun.

Far less known or realized is that men have breast tissue also.  Guys, it’s not all pectoral muscle under your nipples.

Male Breast Cancer is something to be aware of.

Watch this short video about two men who became aware of their condition and did something about it.  They’re alive to tell the cautionary tale.  There is much that we can do right away to help fight male breast cancer.

If you have just felt around your chest guys, that is a good start.  If there is a “hollow” spot or an oddly shaped lump, or anything that might be suspicious, then get it checked out!  This male breast cancer thing is nothing to fool around about.

Awareness will be our first weapon against male breast cancer.

For awareness to be a powerful first weapon in this fight against male breast cancer, it must become pervasive.  There comes a time to skip the jokes, get real, and get the word out.  Now is that time.

The video is part of a larger effort to shine a light on this topic that has lurked in the shadows for far too long.
