We’ve all faced some form of computer error.

Blue screen, 401, “file not found”, or some other of the many possible computer error messages that are possible.

It can be frustrating or tragic, even funny (OK rarely).  As long as computers and Humans interact there will be computer error messages.  Hey occasionally the computer errors will actually be Human Errors!

 This little piece about computer error got me to thinking.

How often is an error actually a computer error, and how often is it Human error?

I used to write software, and one of the prime pieces of code that had to be considered at all times was “error trapping”.  This meant trapping the all of the potential errors that the Human user could possibly commit.

Not possible you say?  Well, pretty darned hard and some would always get through.  That’s why you had someone else do the beta-testing.

What it got me to thinking about this time is the inclination to blame something (or someone) else for a breakdown or lack of results.

The old parable about blame ends with “when you point the finger of blame, there are three other fingers pointing back at you“.

It wasn’t far to then consider this in terms of success at business.  Home or small business especially.  Just as computer error is a convenient scapegoat for computer “problems”, we are prone to “upline error”, “downline error”, “market error”, or “lacking-error”.

Basically anything but the one constant in your small or home based business…YOU.

I think that it’s especially interesting in this business of Online Marketing.  Computer error is so easy to place the blame on.  “It must be my software”, “I need the new…”, “my computer is too slow”, “my internet connection is too slow”, “Google did this or that”, “Facebook isn’t …….ing”, I’m sure that if honest you could supply a few more from your own lips.

Since it may not be computer error, then it’s time to look at the other side of the screen and keyboard.

Many of the leading earners in the online marketing field agree that taking responsibility for your business means taking responsibility for YOUR thoughts, Actions, Mindset, Programming, Choices, everything that affects your decision making.  Not blaming difficulties on computer error!

While this may sound off-putting to some, it sounds liberating to others.

The people who read this and think “that’s ME, I want to be in charge of my future, I want to be the Boss of Me” are the sort of people who yearn to get out from under the poor decision making, blaming, and lack of results that characterize so much of business today.
