Attraction Marketing’s Time Has Arrived.

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Attraction Marketing

Old School:  Passive advertising venues like newspaper, television, radio.

Marketers would rely on non-specific un-targeted volume methods in hopes that a few interested people would respond.  They would be happy with a low percentage return.

Today, the internet allows entrepreneurs to use what is known as attraction marketing to gather leads, potential clients and long-time customers.

How is Attraction Marketing different?

In the case of attraction marketing, the advertiser is educating the customer about the products and services available and forging relationships with them at the same time.

In other words the customer is attracted, literally, to the company due to their content, and begins to trust and build a relationship before any selling takes place.

Active Attraction Marketing

Social media is a great example.  Let’s look at Facebook.  By posting photographs of your premises, your staff, sharing special events and by interacting with your Facebook fans – showing them that you have an interest in them – you are building a relationship and not depending on the hard sell. Your social media followers will gravitate to your website where you showcase what you have to offer.

This is particularly the case if you have a lively and informative blog that you post to your social media accounts, including Twitter and Google+. Your readers should be encouraged to leave comments on your blog, giving you a further opportunity to interact and develop a relationship with them.

Attraction Marketing by Engaging the Customer

This isn’t a one way street.  With traditional marketing methods there is no feedback and no relationship short of Dear Abby or letters to the editor.  It’s unlikely that you’ll ever know how well your print or televisions ads will be received. But using these means, you can listen to what your clients and potential customers have to say.

Thanks to social media, you’ll learn about their concerns, what they like and don’t like about your product.  Do they think it’s too expensive, for instance?  If so, then social media gives you the opportunity to explain the value of your products and show people the benefits they receive when choosing you rather than a competitor.

There is nothing mysterious about the attraction marketing method.  Marketers have always been interested in getting the word out to prospective clients.  They have been limited to word of mouth until now.

Attraction Marketing now comes into its own.

With all of the tools associated with the internet and the possibilities offered through social media, attraction marketing is perfectly poised for success.

In fact, it uses skills that the entrepreneur already possesses. These are enthusiasm, knowledge of your product or service and the ability to get to know people.  Attraction marketing drives customers towards your company in ways that give them positive, lasting feelings about your company and the way you do business.
