Discovering Your-Self Through Listening?

(San Jose, California)-The writer is talking about something that you yourself have not discovered he is not talking about what he has discovered. That is totally irreverent but the words, what the telephone is saying, the words, content of the words and all that you are listening to. And the listening is watching your own thoughts, feelings, reactions; the writer is merely acting as a mirror pointing out what you see in the mirror. You have to apply your brain while reading or listening to what the writer is saying. In which by listening you are discovering your self, you follow?
The writer as a person as he has often repeated has no importance what so ever. And he means this, and what he is saying is not something that is foreign and that you have to understand or act upon. Then if that is so if it is foreign and you have act upon it then you might as well take a drug. But if you are listening to what he is saying and you ask what am I feeling and reacting about what he is saying, there is a communication between what he is saying and your self.
When one is merely listening to what he is saying the communication ceases. But when you apply your brain and listen to what he is saying and your relationship to what he is saying, and to discover your reactions to what he is saying, and your responses to his subtleties, stupidities or intelligence you are then moving together. Then it is your not his, are you getting all of this, is the writer being clear? If the writer may say most politely don’t answer immediately and see what he is saying?
First of all he is saying that he is not your mentor or guru, absolutely not, that is defamatory. And you are not his followers, and you don’t have an idea of what he is talking about. What he is saying is that your own deep undiscovered life, that’s all, okay? He is talking about you not himself, your daily monotonous, boring and fearful, sorrowful, lonely life. The violence, chicanery, like of integrity, where there is integrity there is strength, then one can stand by your self! Can we live that way because then nothing affects you and you are not influenced by anything because you are then discovering what is true for your self not truth according to you or someone else but actual truth.
That truth is not his or yours, it is something entirely not outside the activity of the brain, we want go into that for the moment. Now we are together finding what is true. Not finding what is true for you and what is true for me but what is true. Do you follow? We are together finding out what is the art of living. What’s the way to listen, what’s the way to learn, what’s the way to see/perceive and if you see it it’s your then you need no master, mentor, leader, books or guru. We are living on other people’s knowledge and if they are anything like you, think about it; please I say this most respectfully.
We have no insight into our own existence! May we look at something together? The write think that we should go into what is GOOD, you know GOOD. What is GOOD? What is so called not GOOD? If we use the word evil it has such connotation behind that word. Lets forget the word evil for the moment and stick with the GOOD and the BAD, that’s a Clint Eastwood movie isn’t it, sorry.
What is “good”, please look at it for a moment? The writer is asking the question what is good, how do you listen to the word? How do you receive that word it doesn’t matter who says it how do you listen to it and receive it, what is your taste of that word? What is your feeling, instinctive felling for that word? Instinct one doesn’t mean it generally but your immediate feeling for the word? And when you say the “bad” what is your response to it, is it punishment? A thing that you feel some “bad” thing being done? To discover for oneself the reactions to these two words? Not what philosophers say or what other people say the bishops, priest, popes-popes one doesn’t just mean the roman pope but the popes that are all over the world of different religious organizations with there heads and tales and all the rest of it.
When one listens to these two words that have had a tremendous affect on humankind historically right from the beginning? The Christians say that this is “good” and if you go against it we will burn you, and they have heretics, tortured, burned them, its in human what they have done. And that’s considered “good”. Then you go to India from birth with what ever your beliefs, it is a horror. You follow, apart from all that what is “good” and what is “bad”? May I go on? Is the “good” related to the “bad” and is the “good” in conflict with the “bad”? Novels have written about it, “good” always concords at the end, even in thrillers. The “bad” is always being destroyed and then coming back up the battle this has been going on you see all over the world the evil, <(the writer doesn’t like that word, it stinks) for give me if I use that word.
Okay now what is “good” and what is “bad”, is “GOODNESS” born out of that which is “bad”? Because we know that which is “bad” tradition, conditioning, that which people have said and written and that which is “bad” is fighting that which is “good” and the “god” is fighting that which is “bad”. Now what the writer is asking is that which is “good” born out of that which is “bad”? Do you understand the question; this is a simple question, right? If the “goodness” is born out of that which is “bad” it is not “good”. Then they are related to each other. You can see this, right? Nevertheless it is not “good”.

Lets get a little closer to it; they are entirely two different things. The one cannot become the other. If it can become the other it is already recognizes as the other. You follow? Furthermore it is not “good”, “goodness” is something that is totally divorced from that which is “bad”. But we have mixed the two together and each of them must fight. We must resist, fight and put away “evil/bad” in order to be “good”, this way the “goodness” is always in terms of the “bad”.
You see we are saying something entirely different, “goodness” have no relation what so ever with that which is “bad”. For the “goodness” to exist the “bad” must cease that’s it, not a battle between the two. This is simply logic and sanity. Now to come even nearer home in us are these opposing elements, this duality, the wanting, sorry but not aspiration it’s the wrong word-aspiration is something romantic, idealistic and rather stupid, forgive me if I use that word. We are all aspiring for something, aspiring to be wealth, for god, a manger in good company and so on, same thing god is another form of a good corporation. The writer is not being blasphemous but this all is so obvious.
Now “goodness” cannot exist where there is “bad”. There is no space for the both of them together in the mind. That is another matter all together we will go into another time. From the “bad” one cannot possibly go to the “good”. It is not a movement from this to that, it is not a process of time from that which is “bad” to achieve that which is “good”. From that the question arises what is “bad”? You with the writer in this? One will know what is “good” only when that which is “bad” is not. So what is “bad”? Lets put away the “good” for now and don’t say tell me secretly or tell me and I will follow that.
You see we have to understand that which is “bad”? Is it bad to a nationalistic? Ask yourself this question please? To say I am French, British, Tibetan or Australian? Is that “bad”? The writer is not saying to me its bad and to you its not. We are asking what is “bad”? Not according to me or somebody else. We together will look and find out. If you are interested? As long as there is division, racial division, class division, religious division, political, economical divisions those divisions create conflict, war ultimately killing each other, isn’t that “BAD”! YES/RIGHT, and yet religions support it, you support it you know all the rest of it. Can we be free of that entire thing first?
LOCK ARMS WITH ME HERE!
This means not belonging to any country or any guru, church, religions, not a thing because they are all divisive? Can we live this way, will you do it? This brings about another question, authority whether political, religious, economical, totalitarian is authority evil? Not in the hands of the wise which is “good”. We have said that the authority of the wise is the salvation of the foolish? Authority of the policeman, law we have to pay taxes or we are punished. So there is authority outwardly which is keeping to the right side of the road, park between the lines, stop at the traffic light, in a school or college and so on, you follow this right?
You see we are talking about authority, the feeling of it and the power of it, how it is dangerous, to slaughter people, spiritual authority in the deepest sense of that word is evil. So then the question is the “bad” which we said is any kind of division, don’t miss understand, the religious divisions, the division that says we are closed you cant come in here psychologically. But the door that is open for you to come in that’s not closed. You follow? We will go into all this?
Okay it all comes down to any psychological individualist division. The Arab, Muslim, Jew and so on. Any psychological organization division in that sense of that word. That is “bad”, and can we be free of all that? Not its alright I see your point but goes on with all wars, it nice. We are violent people and that is the ultimate expression of violence to kill a million people with the push of a button. Or do we end all that in our selves first not all the outward organizations? So can we, each one of us not join an organization that will help us to be free from wars which is another form of organizations we don’t begin with our selves first?
Can we, each of us “end” this division in our selves? Then you can use organizations, you follow? But if you use organizations while divided inwardly psychologically that which you organize will be that all so, divided. So one cannot change the inward psychological divisions with outward organizations. Now can we each of us put way anything that divides us from another, of course you have to have your own house, car, garden and so on. The writer is talking about psychologically, inwardly subjectively, will you do it? Then you don’t have to search for the “good”, “goodness” flowers! The beauty of that is endless and it can never be destroyed by anything.
“We all want to escape from our selves and our selves is the most important thing, to penetrate this sheath, this outward appearances, outward thing deeply to go inward, that journey is endless it has such extraordinary beauty! Sorry we have to stop now?”
