(San Jose, California)-The writer has discovered something new. Yesterday we looked at the ways that we distract our selves from the facts, would it be okay if we continued into this and find out what happens? Hope that you all had a good sleep? The writer think that we left off at what its like to observe things as a whole? So may we start from there?
Lets say that you wanted to look at a valley, in doing this you take a survey of the whole thing, right? That means your mind isn’t merely fixed on a particular view you look at the whole valley. Now here is a complex map of the whole of life business, education, religions and politics you know all the rest. A very complex map and to be able to look at that one must be free to look. Furthermore we say free the mind from fear. As long as there is a fear, that fear will take shelter in a belief, Christian, Muslim it doesn’t matter what belief. Because fear demands comfort, security, hope and all the rest.
Now being afraid of something, that fear must take shelter in something else. So whether you believe in reincarnation or some other belief all beliefs are the same. Because they are essentially born out of this fear. so what is the real question, is it not can fear be eliminated all together? It is like enquiring into “if there is such a thing” as god. The writer put it in quotes because that word god is so heavily loaded that it has almost lost all of it meaning. If one wants to discover if there is or is not, how does one proceed? The writer thinks that it is obvious to find out that all beliefs must come to an “end”. Furthermore this means that all forms of fear must come to an “end”.
A belief is a form of hope and we have hope because we are in despair. And all of us invent a belief for security a state of mind that says that there is something that is permanent. And we believe in that, isn’t it obvious that belief conditions all examinations and perceptions nevertheless it prevents the total inaction. So what is thinking? So the mind begins, lets go into it for a little bit; first one can say that they really don’t know. Then we can begin to analyze and say it is the response of memory, you ask what is my name and the writer knows because he has repeated it so often he tells you immediately.
When you ask a little more complex question it takes a time interval and in that time interval the mind is in operation to find the answer. Now if you ask the writer something that he doesn’t know or nobody knows which no book or philosopher has answered then one can honestly say they don’t know. One opposes a significant question for a significant answer. Now one really doesn’t know the answer, when they say that they don’t know, that means that the mind isn’t looking, waiting or expecting from someone the answer because it doesn’t know where to look because there is no answers to look for, are you with the writer so far?
You see this means that the mind is completely alert, but it is not looking because it doesn’t know where to look or to whom to ask. In that state one begins to discover, the writer don’t know if you can see this? Why does one begin to discover in this sate because it is real freedom. Such a mind is a religious mind, no longer seeking, no longer demanding experiences, it is not caught in visions and such a mind has a totally different activity at a different dimension that thought can never possibly reach.
Thought has a place a very small place, but when one realizes that, thought has no place at-all. Which doesn’t mean you will live on ugly little sentiment and emotions. You see what the writer is saying that one can function normally, healthily, sanely in this world with a mind that is not cluttered up by thought. Now there is only such a religious mind that can know something beyond all the imaginations and structures of humankind hopes.

You see there is no perfect society. Society doesn’t want humankind to be free, they never have. According to social standards freedom means disorder. Revolt and revolution means disorder in the face of society. So society forbids that, but humankind is always seeking freedom, freedom merely outwardly in relation to the social structure. Furthermore we revolt against society but not against the psychological structure, which have created this society. Do you follow? Now the genuine radical recurs within the human being, within the skin rather then within the social order.
We are taking a journey together you the readers/listeners viewing this and the writer into the whole psychological structure of humankind. You see when we really perceive the understanding and meaning of that structure we can then perhaps bring about a change in society. We all know that society needs a total change and revolution, do you agree? You see all similarities should be distrusted; do you get the writer meaning? Psychologically humankind has built this extraordinary structure called society, because inwardly he is that but outwardly he lays down laws how to control that, but inwardly we have no management what so ever. Come on people, you can see this right?
Inwardly we are just wired, it seem that society and the so called individual inner make up and societies inner make up can be governed by quite different laws, which would be two different things, and one knows much less about the laws that govern inwardly then the laws the govern outwardly. What do you the viewer think? So you may have this forced understanding about the laws that govern society but we are still quite pessimistic about the changing of society. This is why the writer is saying that the changing of society is not the answer at-all. You know how we go off and talk about how we want a good society and to change society.
The writer thinks the real problem is can there be a real mutation in the human mind, that is the real question. When that takes place society will look after itself. So this is that the human society has evolved tremendously and the human being hasn’t changed for last million years or more. Now this brings up the problem or question is there evolution at-all psychologically, outwardly there is in society growth. Furthermore is there such a thing as psychological evolution that is becoming better, changing from this to that, creating an inward perfection all of this implies time. It is impossible to change the psychological factor through time.
What would happen if one could put away gradual revolution inwardly/internally and face the facts each minute inwardly and see if that fact or “what is” can be eliminated immediately, you follow this right? There is no end to talking with words, attending meetings and reading. But attending meetings, reading, discussing has a little value, if attending meeting and discussions, readings and all the rest is merely a stimulant then you are dependent. Like people are dependent on drugs, music and picture, on doing something. As long as we are dependent we are in conflict and despair.
You see we have to come to the whole process of knowing oneself, not through reading or attending meeting and discussion. When you begin to know one self it is the beginning and the ending of all misery.
