This track was was released 1989, when I was 9 years old. Written by one of my favorite rappers, Young MC (remember Bust A Move!! – try to get that out of your head), along with Michael L. Ross and Matt Dike from Delicious Vinyl.
I can remember being in 3rd or 4th grade, listening to Tone Lōc and really not knowing what he was talking about, but I just couldn’t stop! He’s only made 2 albums, but they still get played all the time.
Over the years I would continue to listen to him (probably not parent approved) and this began my love for hip hop.
Funky Cold Medina rose to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April of 1989.
The Funky Cold Medina Lyrics are a bit controversial today, however the intent was pure fun at the time, helping a guy with absolutely no game, get some attraction coming his way.
