Finding stuff to write about for your Empower Network blog can be a daily challenge for someone that doesn’t do a lot of writing. First of all, build a list of topics that you know something about.
I am older and have a lot of different experiences in life, most times, I just make a mental note of what I am going to write about, when I sit down and start writing all those thoughts and ideas I had preconceived start coming together when it is time to write. Mind you, I write at a basic level which is the habit I got into when I used to write for a monthly newsletter, so I will keep it at the level which is for general audiences. So finding stuff to write about isn’t that hard for me.

Finding Stuff To Write About From Your Own Experience

Now, getting back to the list, this will help you to find stuff to write about when you get stuck. Start with a list of topics that you know something about, this would be my list:

• General Construction
• Log Home Building and Design
• Employment Counselling
• Writing Resumes
• Personal Development
• Professional Development
• Politics
• Community Development
• Public Administration
• Communications
• Web and Blog Design
• Being a Father
• Being A Brother
• Making Money

I could go on and on with this list as well, I am not an expert at any of these areas, but I have personal experience from the last 40 years in all these areas. For you younger people, your list is going to look different than mine, think of some of the life experiences you had in high school or on school trips or even topics in areas of study in high-school, college or university, I am sure if you had that kind of experience, your writing style is going to be better than mine.
Finding stuff to write about is just the start, and all you have to do is start writing until you have exhausted your knowledge, then start your research on the topics you know less about, or you want some substance to your article. Keep finding stuff to write about everyday, write them down or make a mental note.

Finding Stuff To Write About As The Expert On The Topic

The point is, you are providing information for someone that doesn’t know anything on the topic. Take the Empower Network forum for instance, how many new people ask ” I don’t know what to do, it’s my first day and I don’t know what to write about.” You know more, so you want to be the expert…research and write like you are the expert, you are just relaying information most of the time, but what can sound more exciting for the reader is, your own experience on the topic. So finding stuff within your own experience can one of the best methods.

Research has become easier these days, all you have to do is do a search on the internet, there are already millions of articles written about any topic that you possibly think of.
When I am finding stuff to write about, I expand my knowledge and read related articles on the internet. You will also find that there are hot topics that are being searched for depending on what is in the news and what is going on in the world. Keep up-to-date with news and happenings, these are usually in all the major search engines.

Keep in mind, from my own experience, I like to read about a topic from someone who has experienced it themselves, cause I like to connect with that person through their own story and I understand it easier, it is more visual and I can connect emotionally with the story from a real person.

When you write like that, people began to trust you as the expert because you have connected with them. So finding stuff to write about shouldn’t be that hard.

Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself For Making Mistakes

I try to review my material to find mistakes, there may be the odd mistake left once I press publish, I don’t worry about it too much because people will understand it still even if you made a few mistakes.
Some articles that I have written lately are methods that I have learned from personal development books. There is a common theme when you join any program like the Empower Network, there is some personal development involved in succeeding. This is a very hot topic to write about and to learn about and most important, to practice and implement personally.

As a marketer, you also want to create various offers in your posts, because that is what your trying to do, you want to intrigue people about the business that you are in too. That is what we are doing, we want to gather leads with a call to action right in your post, if you want, save it to the end, the closing. You have already captured them and created a certain level of curiosity and trust.

Most readers may find your banners or ads as a distraction, but that is what you want to do, whether they click on your banner or fill out the form right away or when they have finished the article, you have done it…..that is what we are trying to do…create a sales funnel within your article. A call to action…if you will.

The more interesting articles you write, there are more chances of someone reading your article and clicking on you ads, banners or wanting more from you.
