Understanding Your Facebook “Profile” and “Fan Page”
A Facebook Fanpage has a ‘Like button’
In a “Profile” you see the ‘Friends’ button versus the ‘Like button’
Link your fanbook page from your Profile.
Go to “About section”: See the little pencil, click the pencil and say ”update info”
It will take you to the back end of your profile.
Here you gonna see the ‘About’ section
You click on “edit” on Work and Eduction section.
Where have you worked?
You enter your name and your fanpage will appear.
Once you do that you will see some new options pop up.
Important is that you click on “I currently work here”
It will show up on your profile.
Position :
You can add a “follow button” to your profile”.
You can only have 5000 friends on your profile but on your fan page you can have unlimited number of fans.
When you add the follow button on your profile, everytime you post on your profile you can choose to who you want to share it with. You can make it public.
Anyone who push the button “follow” will receive your new posts in their news feed. It is a way to pass that 5000 friends limit.
How To Add A Follow/ Subscribe Button To Your Facebook Profile
Sign in to your Facebook account and go to .
Here you can find a button that will ask you whether you want to turn it on or not. Obviously, you must have to click on this button.
After that you will get a screen that will help you to manage your followers.
If you want to check whether you have done successfully or not, you can check your profile in Public view.
How can I see what my timeline looks like to other people?
You can see what your timeline looks like to other people by using the View As tool.
- Go to your timeline and click (on the right, below your cover photo).
- View As… from the dropdown menu.
- You’ll see what your profile looks to the public. To preview how your profile appears to a specific person, like a friend or coworker, type their name into the open field and press enter.
Keep in mind, posts and photos you’ve hidden on your timeline are still visible to the audience they’re shared with other places on Facebook, like in News Feed and search.
How do I access Page Insights ?
To access Page Insights:
- Open the menu below your FanPage’s cover photo
- Select View Insights
You can access your Insights data through the dashboard, or export it using the Export button in the top right corner.
If you decide to export it, a dialog box will allow you to specify:

The date range for which you want to get data

Whether you would like to get the data as as an Excel file or as a CSV (comma separated values) file

Whether you want to see data at the Page level, or for each individual Page post
How should I use Page Insights to improve my Page?
The best way to get your audience to engage with your content and share it with friends is to understand what the people you want to reach care about. Page Insights give you the metrics you need to do just that.
With Page Insights, you can:

Assess the performance of your Page

Learn which content resonates with your audience

Optimize how you publish to your audience so that people will tell their friends about you
For example, you can look at each of your posts and see the ones that are getting the most virality. Post more of this type of content if you want to increase the number of people talking about you.
What metrics are available to measure the overall performance of my Page?
Four metrics at the top of your Insights tab help you assess the size and level of engagement of your audience.
- Total Likes: The number of unique people who like your Page as of the last day of your selected date range.
- Friends of Fans: The number of unique people who are friends with your fans as of the last day of your selected date range, including your current fans.
- Talking About This: The number of unique people who have created a story about your Page during your selected date range. A story is created when someone:

Likes your Page

Likes, comments on, or shares your Page post

Answers a question you’ve asked

Responds to your event

Mentions your Page

Tags your Page in a photo
