Five Internet Marketing Strategy Tips

Lesson #1:  Use a simple, powerful image.  Google and others used a simple black box or screen blocking images.  As you can see from these examples, images don’t always need to be complicated or detailed to convey a very powerful message.

What a simple, but powerful images can you include in your marketing message?

Arrows, underlining and other handwritten doodles can spice up your marketing without changing a single word.  They can draw added attention to your products and services and the benefits your customer will derive from them.  You might even try using the same black box technique Google used to cover and announcement you’ll be unveiling.

Lesson #2:  Get others to join in.  Reddit led the blackout and encouraged other sites to participate.  Often info-marketers get their Affiliates to join in when they launch a new product. If you don’t have Affiliates or are an offline business, you could still use this same principal to bring more awareness and new customers to your own business.

Consider teaming up with another company in your area or niche for an event where you each invite your own customers and cross-promote.  Pick companies that have similar target audiences who you feel could sincerely endorse your products.

For example, I recently heard about an eye doctor with an upscale eye glass selection teaming up with a plastic surgeon for an event.  They created the materials together, split the cost and each mailed a promotion to their lists.

This was a smart match because by teaming up, the two seemingly endorsed each other, and made an introduction and recommendation to each other’s customers.  And because both businesses are upscale and have products/services concerned with looking good, their clientele fit each other’s target audience perfectly.

Lesson #3:  Tell people what you want them to do.  While this might seem obvious, you’d be surprised how often people forget to do this.  Especially on websites.  On every page of your website, tell people what you want them to do.  Do you want them to read more?  Order now?  Share your site with a friend?  Contact you?  Sign up for your e-letter? Tell them what you want them to do and you’ll increase your chances exponentially of them doing it.

Lesson #4:  Give them options.  I continue to hear and read about the debate of “short vs. long copy.”  There will most likely always be a debate because of what is described as the “duel readershop path.”  This refers to the fact that on one end of the spectrum, there are people who want to read every last detail, while at the opposite end is the reader who is implusive and will act and buy now.

The Wikipedia and Google examples mentioned above show how you can please both ends of the scale and everything in between by giving short copy first with the option to learn more.  While this isn’t the best policy in every situation, when possible, you can write to both extremes and everything in between by giving your readers an option to read more detailed information in addition to the “buy now” button.

Lesson #5:  Help them tell others.  You can add “share” buttons for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google +1 and other social media sites on your emails, web pages, blogs and just about everything on the web.  And in your printed brochures, newsletters and more, you can include your link addresses and ask people to share.  This costs you nothing and is an easy way to gain prospects, clients and customers.

Bonus Tip:  How you can use this idea in your own marketing to make it HOT! how to enter the conversation already going on in people’s minds.  One way is to use timely news or to piggyback onto a fad or event.  Always be on the lookout for things in the news and trends that you can tie into your promotions for your products and services, just as I’ve tied yesterday’s events into your marketing tips
In summary…

1)  If you haven’t tried using images to attract more attention to your marketing message, consider testing some in your next marketing piece.

2)  Think about whom you could team up with that has prospects, clients or customers that fit your target audience profile. Then contact them about doing a cross-promotion together.

3)  Look at every page of your website.  Are you telling them what to do?

4)  Do you give your readers an option to read more about a particular product or service should they so desire?  If not, you’re ignoring a whole segment of potentially lucrative prospects.

5)  And finally, if you aren’t currently adding social media “share” buttons, make a plan to add them to everything you do ASAP.

Use today’s marketing tips as a checklist for incorporating these five ideas into your marketing strategy.

When you do, instead of blocking business out, you’ll attract them in – which means more revenue and more profits for you.

Generic Viral Marketing .. Simple Duplication .. Network for the Masses

What if I could make it so easy – a Grandma could do it?

What if I could make it so credible – a teenager could do it?

What if I could make it so social – that Facebook would love it?

What if I could create such value – that Google would marry it?

What if it was so duplicatable – the old Schoolers would join it?

…and it wasn’t network marketing, wasn’t really an affiliate program…

…but – something new all together? That couldn’t interfere with what you do.
