Negative SEO – video

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

I am adding a video about Negative SEO and I have to say that it is a little controversial because some of the most popular comments are not showing appreciation towards this new Google feature.

The video shows a new tool named disavow links and it works like an anti-spamming system to help you keep a website with only valuable links.
The controversial part is about who has to do this monitoring, because this task or burden, is responsibility of each website owner and let’s face it, it is painful to add this task in our schedule.

Google is providing a tool to improve their algorithm but it’s up to us to make the monitoring of our websites.

Besides that, the tool has its value. The time-consuming part of the problem its annoying but if your ranks are being affected for some black-hat techniques, there is nothing else you can do but remove those links and watch your rankings be at the place where they are before the usage of some black-hat strategies.

Preventing Negative SEO

Now, about the disavow links… it’s basically can improve the credibility of Google PageRank. PageRank measures the relevancy of a webpage based on the number of backlinks coming from other sites. If you want to know more about how you can create high quality backlinks you can read this article to help you figure that out.

Well, Google decided to create this tool to prevent that actions from third-parties could have negative affect on a particular website that are just using legit ways to create its incoming links. This practice is called Negative SEO and it’s a type of sabotage towards a well-established website.

To be honest, the disavow links tool is a valuable tool, the time-consuming part is what can be improved in a near future, but as Google has all the power, unfortunately we have to accept their changes and wait for further improvements.
