Read This If You Are Having A Hard Time Using Mobile Marketing

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

The idea of mobile marking is to focus on your existing customers, rather than gaining new ones. Your existing customers are going to be far more receptive to receiving text messages and updates than new ones. Quite often, mobile marketing that is directed at new customers is perceived as spam.

Send a reminder to your mobile marketing list a few hours before a sale or event begins on your website. A well-timed text message could be just the right spur to drive customers to check out your event.

Just because a person is using their cellphone to access the Internet, it does not mean they understand what the text abbreviations mean. Any lack of understanding in your advertisement will yield unfavorable results both short and long term.

Try creating a mobile app. If you have an app, customers will check regularly to see if there are any specials or promotions available. It will also help increase your brand recognition and overall business traffic. Developing applications will cost some money, however, so consult with a professional.

Keep it simple, informative, and brief. Keeping the minimum number of clicks feature will help maximize your success. Be aware that it’s not hard to get frustrated by having to type a lot on a tiny mobile keypad. So you’ll want to keep any typing required by your campaign to the smallest amount possible.

A mission statement is important for you in mobile marketing. It spells out what your business does and how it plans to do it. Having a set of rules you abide to will help you avoid making any dishonest decisions.

To really boost the chances of your campaign succeeding, promote your mobile marketing call to action whenever and however you can. Promote on Twitter, Facebook, your own website and in your brick and mortar store (if you have one). This comprehensive approach will allow your marketing to reach the most customers, and provide them the most chances to accept your offer.

In the field of social marketing, it is important to keep a close eye on your competition. It is important that you are different than competitors.

If your company decides to move forward with developing its own mobile app, ensure that it is something that your customers will appreciate for its convenience and relevance. If your app is something dumb or just duplicate information that could be found on your website, it’s just going to languish on the app store, unloved.

Market your events through several channels to increase attendance. For example, if you are having a big inventory sale, then use direct mail to send a glossy flyer announcing your event. Follow up with an email and an MMS reminder before the beginning of the sale.

Combine mobile marketing tactics with other web media, such as social media marketing. Use material that goes with your mobile-designed landing page and use what you can to have people find and participate on your site. Mobile marketing strategies that actively engage people, as opposed to simply providing literature, are generally more successful and lead to more sales.

A/B testing can be a great starting place when developing a mobile friendly website. User convenience and functionality testing is as crucial for mobile pages as for sites viewed online via desktops. Create two different landing pages (A&B) to see which is more effective for conversions. The results will show you which version you should choose to develop further.

There are always ways to improve your mobile marketing efforts and advertising campaigns. Know your competition and keep careful watch on their new directions. Keeping your competitive edge is not easy, of course, but following some of these tips should help you gain the advantage.
