4 Lessons I Learned From Not Learning A Lesson

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Didn’t pay attention to the lessons offered?

Didn’t hear the repeated teachings and coaching given?

Or heard it and didn’t Take Action?

I’m sharing this post today because I am one of those people that didn’t.

  • I would like to share the observation that if we are continually finding ourselves in the same situations time and time again we missed something.

And, my experience is that the answer to the problem or better yet, avoiding the problem, has been given to us in a few ways.

We just didn’t choose to act on them. We were too sure of ourselves and we didn’t believe that what we were being told or shown would make a difference, or worse yet, we thought that we knew better!

Well, how’d it work out for us? How many times have we come back to the same problem, perhaps in different forms, but the same one?

The lesson for me, and I would suggest for you also, is to stop wherever we are and look back at any recurring patterns and ask ourselves a few questions

What keeps repeating itself in my Life? Is it serving me? ( We want good things to continue to come to us, so repeating something like that is great!)

What have people been telling me? What information has been available to me that I have ignored? What training has been available?

What is a common thread in all of these ‘hints’ or words? If it keeps showing up for us there is a reason!

Identify these common items and then ask yourself what do I need to do to change this pattern?

How do I use what I have been missing or not acting on to change this pattern?

  • The 4 lessons that I’d like to share today, and are ones that I have taken too long to learn or act on are:

Being Crystal clear on WHY you really want to be an Entrepreneur.

I’ve talked about knowing one’s WHYs and being clear on them in order to take action towards them and also, when there are challenges, knowing your WHY will help you to refocus because you understand just what you are doing it.

KNOW YOUR WHY ! Be Crystal clear on them, or don’t bother to start something you aren’t totally committed to.

Listen to the training and coaching that you have been given. And if it is the same training and coaching over and over, there must be something to it…listen!

    Well Duh!

Seems rather basic but we can get caught up in all of the available information and not take any action. This is where finding a mentor or two who’s suggestions and coaching fits with how we want to succeed and also how we want to run our business will serve us and FOLLOW THEIR COACHING!

Focusing on what you need to do until you master it.

There are lots of options, especially here at Empower Network, for how one can go about building their business. But there are actually only a few, that are common to any of these options, that really have to be followed to be successful.

Identify them and learn all that you can about how to use them and GO! We always learn by doing and we will never ‘get’ all of the information so choose those few steps and focus on doing just them until you’ve mastered them.

And finally, Taking Massive Action to make your WHYs happen!

Oddly enough, I did a series of vlogs and blogs on habits and procrastination. Are they playing a big part in this for you? I’m willing to bet that they are. Watch for them.

As I mentioned above, don’t waste time trying to get all of the information, you can’t. Find the mentor or mentors who you trust and listen to them and then Take Massive, Focused Action!

This blog is a result of me not having learned these lessons in a timely manner. Ugh! Don’t do this! Really, don’t do this!

The purpose of this blog is to save some of you the time and effort of spinning your wheels and not getting closer to your dreams, or what you think is where you want to go.

These 4 lessons can help you do just that. Find a mentor, follow their coaching and save yourself a lot of time and misdirected energy.
