Places to Visit in Czechoslovakia renamed the Czech Republic
I took this video on our Day Trip to the city of Cheb Czechoslovakia near the German Border and the Czech Republic. It was a three hour drive from my house in southwestern Germany near Stuttgart. My son and his friend wanted to go there to buy fireworks for New Years which is like the 4th of July in the USA.
More about Czechoslovakia – now called the Czech Republich
Located in central Bohemia, the capital city of Prague is the largest city in the Czech Republic. The historical significance of Prague dates back 1100 years. This one-time seat of the Roman Empire is one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Europe.
A Ride on the Vltava River in Czechoslovakia
For a family outing that can’t be beat, hire a rowboat and row down the beautiful Vltava River. See parts of the city unseen through regular tourist exploration while relaxing in the warm, afternoon sun. Prefer a night on the river? The Jazz boat offers two and half hours of fine dining, live music, and a view of Prague’s beautiful city lights.
Crossing the Bridge
You may recognize this structure from the movie “Mission Impossible”. The 650 year old Charles Bridge was part of Charles V’s architectural improvements to the city of Prague and used to be the only way to cross the Vltava River. This gothic structure connects Old Town and Lesser Town, so if you are staying in Prague for more than a day or two, you will likely cross it more than once. Gaze in awe at the Old Town Bridge tower while perusing crafts and foods available from vendors all along the bridge.
Prague’s Ghost Trail
If you are looking for some spine-chilling fun in Czechoslovakia, this area is highly proclaimed to be the most haunted place in all of Europe. Walk through narrow, twisting, tight streets and enjoy ghostly sights and sounds, all while listening to your personal guide tell stories of murder, mayhem and romantic tragedy. Don’t expect to get through the night without sensing the presence of earth-bound spirits and hearing the occasional murmur of voices from the beyond the grave.
Havel’s Market
Be sure to bring plenty of spending money. The Grand Bazaar at Havel’s market in Czechoslovakia is a bustling area filled with everything imaginable. Enjoy the refreshing taste of the world famous Czech Republic beer, purchase fresh produce, baked goods and other dining delights as you look for and find the perfect souvenirs for friends and family you have left behind.
The Prague Zoo and Botanical Gardens
The Prague zoo opened in 1919 and now houses over 630 species of animals from around the world. Spread over 111 acres of land, the zoo and tropical gardens will take a full day to explore. The Prague zoo in Czechoslovakia is the proud birthplace of the first polar bear and Andean vulture born in captivity. If you are planning a family vacation, the Prague Zoo is a must for your list of places to see.

Prague Castle in Czechoslovakia is the most important place to visit when you vacation in this city. The world’s largest ancient castle dates back to the ninth century and has been home to Roman emperors and Kings of Bohemia.
